Why is the battle system so embarrassingly bad?
I don't get it, all I'm doing is learning damage-dealing moves that do roughly the same damage, buffs do a pitiful 10%, healing is completely trumped by healing items, and 10 hours into the game I'm STILL running into freaking baby Digimon in random encounters... when does this actually become interesting or challenging?

chapter 4-6 and beyond, and it starts ramping up really quick after chapter 9... by ch 12 you're fighting megas in like every battle, and random encounters are ultimate level... Kowloon is always gonna be weak and you'll have to go back there, just use the hack to get no random encounters while you're in those areas, and when you find areas with good champs and what not always have a rookie or better free in reserve or main party to function call and battle as much as you want.

the hardest bosses in the early game are Jimiken fights, but whenever you see a difficulty 3* or above mission on the board, take it and that's usually champions/ultimates, 4 star is megas.

Thanks Ruri, that's a very helpful post. Unfortunately I'm 10 hours into the game and still at chapter 4 or 5 or so, so that sounds very far off. Do the mons learn actually interesting moves or is it just a matter of bringing the right rock/paper/scissor type and spamming strong moves?

you get some interesting moves if you take digimon through their entire chains and max level them before de-digivolving and re-digivolving, etc... definitely more of a matter than just using strong moves, and you'll have to strategize. are you playing on normal and hard? for now you could put the difficulty up to hard if you ain't on it, and i don't think it's too far off, i think my game says 60 hours, but i probably play 4 hours a day, it should be noted, chapter 11 is concluded after a cutscene, and getting from 6 to 10 is just a matter of solving puzzles and having ultimates/champions in your team to break firewalls and have a balanced team to be able to copy data and decrypt messages to figure the puzzles out.

It is a bit boring in the beginning, but once you get further it ends up playing a lot better IMO. If you can't wait for it to get good, you could switch to Hacker's Memory instead.

i am curently 38 houres in an at chapter 15 a snone of the other chapters rly except 4 and 14 as they have the same grinding spot had any proper gridnign spots, now at 15 here i am doign the story mission but i am grinding here as it si a one time only spot that can give me about 150k exp a battle granted i fight the 4 ults for that you would need platinumnumemons and techtician usb but the downside is numemon sucks rly rly rly rly hard it has sht moves so what you gonna want to do is evolve em into somthing like vademon now still goign all the way to the megas int he line i have noticed any direct conenctiont to numemon doesnt give any aeo move which is rly bad if you want to farm the only oen that gives you aoe moves is metalapemon or epmon forgot hwo you spell his name the metal monkey which si awsome quacke 3 so realyl if you want a godo farm or a proper digimon you woudl want to learnt he moves from another mega and that is what i love about thsi game i have 3 platinumnumeons and they all have diffrent moves, leave alone fusing digimons as it consumes 1 and you get both the movesets so you will reach max moves at that point and gonna have to start discarding the weaker ones and lets say there are some intresting one like a good chunk of damadge to 1 foe and 10% insta kill aka destruction it is called move liek that are very intresting and trust me if i tell you that the 10% tends to pop off now and then that what is soo nice about this game

I must say something about the Buffs and Healing:
1) Buffs: You can stack it. As long as you continue stacking it, you can increase it by a 100% or more. For certain enemies, you are gonna have a really bad time if you don't use this... Our you could simply grind. Isn't my style, but you can do it XD. (I played Cyber Sleuth until chapter 18 in Hard before I needed to grind. I'm pretty stubborn about grinding the minimum possible XD)
2) Healing: In the Story Mode, using Items is better, period. But you can't use them in PVP, so think of them as PVP Moves.
Some of the fights later on hard are very challenging. If you are not playing on hard though you will never have a challenging fight.
