Usually the problem with mapping is that you need too many keys on keyboard. On controller you have a pad to control menus, stick to control movement and another stick to control camera. Then you have 4 buttons to activate skills and several extra buttons to switch to different pages/enemies, open menu, do some other things. All those buttons are comfortably accessible on gamepad, but positioning them comfortably on keyboard is impossible. First major problem - three sets of 4 directional keys to emulate pad and both sticks when person only has two hands, so can't have one hand positioned on each of those 4-key groups.
Luckily this game have fixed camera positioning, so one of those sets is not needed and you just need to rebind other keys to whatever you like. Rebinding is available in this game, so it is not a problem because you can customize key layout to whatever you like.
I like to use certain layout in all ported game, so I rebind it instanly after install, this way I don't have to remember new layout each time:
wasd - pad
ijkl - stick
qe - lb, rb
f - a (accept)
o - b (cancel)
h - x (hit)
u - y (menu)
When this list of buttons is enough to play the game (maybe few extra buttons that are rarely pressed can be added depending on the game) the controls are fine.
Ohh, and using mouse in ports always feels uncomfortable so I always stick to keyboard only. The ported game was not developed for mouse controls so it will never work with it in the same way as other games which were originally developed with mouse control in mind. And implementing mouse control in the ported game is a large rework which requires a lot of changes - objects are not clickable in base game, there is no funtion to go to a certain point (there is only going to a certain direction until you stop holding a button). Unless you just want to use mouse only to point a direction for your character to move and ordering it to move while you hold the button implementing better mouse controls is a lot of work which may require remaking other objects in the game.
And you have to do that over and over again.
Yeah, this is SOOO superior to just using a controller. I would suggest swapping the XY and AB keys around, so you're not doing everything with one hand. But that's still a compromise.
The command-flower (I just made that term up just then, don't @ me) just doesn't work on Keyboard.
I don't remember such combos in this game. Middle finger is on W/S, ring finger on A (occasionally on Q), index finger on D (occasionally on E, F). I messed up Pad and Stick when I described my layout, WASD is for moving, so it is Left stick, not a Pad.
So left hand is for moving around in menus and in the world, right hand is for camera, opening menu, activating skills.
I am complaining about how many corners they cut, not only that but the fact xbox button still pops up in game, you can't even use your mouse buttons, and how the game minimizes when you click on your second monitor.
I am not asking for a complete rework of the game so you can move with the mouse or things like that, but being able to change control keys to mouse buttons. Like for example change B button to Mousebutton 3 or 4
No need for key mappers or anything shady bs like that. Steam has a functional and perfect PS4 support to check in and some games are coming without even the need for that support to be played on Steam or your PC in general.
- forget that last line lol
Get a PS4 controller, it's worth it, if you can afford the Pro version even better. If you run in to any, ANY problem with your controller, make a post about it and we will help you out, do not download any extra 3rd party software.
ive heard the steam stuff for ds4 is very dodgy
PS4 is way better than Xbox but whatever, Microsoft fanboi. Even Steam admits it's really good and it's not like PS4 controller is a bad choice or not supported in windows officially anymore. But, sure, don't understand what's your psychological damage here but anyways.
Then, I suppose you would love drinking it, judging by your pointless and sissy comment here. Good talk.
At the end of the day, it's up to bosen menjomblo to decide whether they want to listen to the people saying to get an XBox controller, or listen to the one guy screeching and insulting everybody for not shilling Playstation crap.
i have every system kiddo... calling someone a fanboi just because they say a controller that is better supported for a platform and for the most part feels better.
the sad part is i use the ds3 and xbox controller on my ps4 more then the ds4 unless the game absolutly requires that crap pad they added... which most games dont even support.
and before you say its not possible google "xim 4" and "xim apex"
