Try the demo to get a feel for the depth of this simulation. You can set it to English and then play the tutorial. The cab for the Class 216 that they let you play in the tutorial is very low res, but the full version does have decent hi-res cabs for many of the locomotives. I just purchased the full version myself after playing the demo/tutorial. This is the type of sim where the graphics are not that important. Honestly, you won't even have a lot of time to be looking around because you'll be concentrating on signals and properly operating the locomotive. Also take a look at the English manual from Steam store.
It starts out using PZB (abiding by the track signs/signals/Indusi magnets) then it changes to LZB where you just follow the indications on your dash. Pretty fast route (up to 200 k/h) with only 1 stop. I learned everything from the manual and just checking the English resource for German signals and systems. http://www.sh1.org/eisenbahn/ I had no prior knowledge of anything German train or signal related.
Another steam user helped me achieve 100% score.
You'll come across many abbreviations as you read the manual and do research. I used this list of common abbreviations with Google Translate. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_von_Abk%C3%BCrzungen_im_Eisenbahnwesen
All of the abbreviations from the Ebula (Electronic Timetable) can be found there as well.

I'm also using a small 14" display for the MFA.
It has 5 stops and the whole route requires full concentration. Very intense when you're on a tight time schedule and you're trying to slow down from 160 km/h into the platforms. You'll need to find some braking points on the map or calculate some points using the distance markers. I've been using 1500m - 1800m from platforms at medium braking which allows the train to cruise into the platforms at around 55km/h.
I will definitely try the train 10102 after I master the 2422. Still in easy mode now and have difficutiles (emergency braking) at the end of the LZB. Improving at every try, though…. Once I'm ok in easy mode, will try to enable the indusi. I believe I'm not done hearing "Zwangsbremsung"... :-D
When going into Dusseldorf, the speed limit is 80 to 70 to 60 in quick succession and you need to be ready with Indusi. However, when arriving at Koln, it is a constant 30 KM/H much further out and you have much more time to deal with the train protection system.
Zusi is a work in progress . some of the cabs date back to Zusi 2 , but there has been an upgrade program going on since day 1 release.
But not sure if they are planing re-doing the older train cabs.
For all info on Zusi and it modders you can just go to their Web site and check out the forums
The other option is Zusi 3 Wiki its all in German sorry but open it through Google translate .
All ongoing mods and what is finished and what is in progress can be found here.

But I thnk Steam Zusi 3 as to update via steam instead the original Hobby version.
So I dipped my toes into the Düsseldorf routes it soon went to pot . with the door switch . then i left the platforms to soon even missed a stop .
Even with all those errors its an excellent sim.
I found out that when coming to a stop at a platform, if I was braking too hard and the speed was dropping too quickly as it approached 0 km/h, I would get the message/penalty not only for a hard stop, but that I didn't release the doors as well.
What occurs when coming to a stop is that as you reach 2-4 km/h, there will be an audio alert, "turfreigabe turfreigabe", which means to release the doors with the <T> key. I needed to hit the key before it came to a complete stop. If I was braking too hard, the <T> key wasn't registering before the speed hit zero and it gave me a doors not released penalty. Now that I am braking more smoothly, I have no more problems with the door.
