Endboss (Spoiler) - Why?
I don´t like playing melee and therefore specialized in ranged. It´s sometimes a bit tedious fighting bosses because the luscious recharge rate can´t be upgraded very often, but otherwise the game was really great.

Until I came to the Endboss. My fully upgraded ranged weapon - gone. All the upgrades and perks I took - useless. WTF. Really? Does the weapon come back, if I do him enough damage?
Really, can´t express how much I hate this.

Btw - I would love it, if there was a chance to modify the white starter weapon, no matter how rare or costly.
The pool is so big, I didn´t find my favourite ones in fifteen-twenty runs.

The final boss will actually alternate between a Ranged & Melee phase on a timer so if you just focus on surviving during the Melee phase you can still defeat Loss entirely with a Ranged weapon.

As for modifying the starter weapon, you can actually change your entire starting loadout from the Dream Journal. It's mentioned briefly in the tutorial but you may have missed it.

Thank you very much for your answer about the boss. This is very encouraging.

About weapons:

I have already played with my favourites chosen in the Dream Journal. But as far as I unterstand they will stay "white" an can only be upgraded in tier, but don´t get extra perks that come with higher rarities as found ones? And they can´t be enchanted, as far as I can see.

One of the upgrade options in the Waking World give you a bonus to the rarity of your Starting Items. It think it is under Meditation, but I could be wrong. I've maxed it out and I rarely start without either my Melee or Ranged weapon being Gold or Purple, sometimes both items, usually my Shield and Lucids will be Blue or above. I once had a run where all of my starting gear was at least Blue. Just know that it is expensive. Also, I believe in the Dream Forge the "Blue" light will give you the option to reroll the modifiers on your item. If I recall correctly this will give the item a chance to change rarities. It's been a while since I used it though.
Hope this helps.
