How do I fill the bucket

I just started the first mission, found a bucket and placed it by the water tap thingy. But nothing happens and I don't get any prompts either, how do I get water into this thing? The tutorial is no help either

Press tab to open your tool wheel, then go to your own buckets and place it by clicking. After the filling animation grab it with left click and place it down by aiming somewhere and left clicking again. Btw you can spill water if it is dirty it will leave stains so be careful.

Tap accepts the bucket quite far away. If nothing happens, it's broken. Reload, repair, the basic magic to fix small problems ^^

lmao I did the same thing when I first played. I also thought you could only refill the bucket by "collecting it" and then spawning a new one, but you can just take it the dirty bucket to the faucet and it will clean it with new water.
