There was also the fact that between the first few missions I found bills, both for your daughter's treatment and things like utility bills that were past due, but as you progress those vanish and given that the power is still on...
I haven't finished the game yet but the emails that come in from the daughter tell me shes still getting treatment which means the bills must be getting paid as again, early game, you find a letter from the clinic treating her telling you that if you don't pay, they'll stop treatment.
(Tiny Spoiler i guess but its something you learn the first minutes in game):

But storywise: the Main character spends the earned money on the Pricy treatment of his sick daughter.
Which leaves us with only one conclusion/inquiry, is the job pay + what he steals enough to cover the medical expense, with enough leftover to get a new bucket, few extra mops and detergents?
Consider I'm stealing roughly 7k every job that pays around 10k, and that's around maybe 15k a job/night. All his equipment fully upgraded including gas and garbage bag money AT MOST costs 10k USD total for the entire stint of the game. What I'm trying to say is after do a breakdown/conversion between $ and Skill Points after each mission and how much an extra mop cost in terms of skill points, you're probably spending 10% of your money on supplies, with 90% of going to bills.
So it makes perfect sense as of the story's conclusion. But it clearly isn't over yet.
