Modern Art-Do the paintings have to go to an exact location?

I'm on my second playthrough trying to get 100, and I am down to the paintings. I couldn't find missing ones, so I pulled all of them off the walls, wondering if they needed to be in specific locations for each painting. This is the last mission I need 100% and its always these freaking paintings.

No, they dont... only the shape has to fit in the frame.

Generally there are 2 areas of painting, the entrance and the upstairs area. The paintings at the entrance do not have a frame, the ones that go upstairs do have a frame. Knowing this helps loads.

There is also a knocked off album cover painting in the music room that is kind of its own thing so I suggest putting that up asap so it doesn't get mixed in with the other sections if you do that then its pretty easy to know at least which area they should be designated to.

The one in the music room had ended up double stuffed with one of the music painting, thanks for giving me the location to look in.
