Crash fix (without messing with Windows settings)

1. In your Library games list, right click on "EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN", then select "Properties"
   
2. In the "General" tab, look for the "LAUNCH OPTIONS" section
   
3. Enter

   cmd /c "set OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 && %command%"

   into the dialog box
   
4. Run your game. A Windows command prompt window will open (you can ignore it), and your game should stop crashing.
   
5. Kill all the monsters. EDF! EDF!!!
