Cant open menu?

so, i'm using a Quest 2 running Virtual Desktop. but i cant seem to open the menu to select something different. So i'm essentially stuck in limbo and cant exit a level or go into the main menu until i quit the whole game. i cannot fix it no matter what i do. if you can find a fix for this i will be so damn thankful, this has been happening for a LONG time now..
