Ghost Hunting Wave Puzzle

I have tried to adjust the game settings, restarted, etc. Everytime I get to play as Frank and need to do the wave length puzzle I only have access to the two knobs but not the center switch so they are unsolvable. Help?

The center switch is only available if you're playing at Master sleuth level. Are you playing Master?

Yes I was. I was able to solve it by switching to amateur, solving it, and then putting it back. But I’m worried about future puzzles. Did I not load a driver correctly or something?
