Is there only one portrait per character class?

I understand how to make the custom portraits , but is there really no male/female variants for each class and just the one portrait for each class? Ranger is always a bearded man, warrior is always a woman and so on?

Default yes, but you can add your own. It's pretty easy and there are instructions on their discord.

Kind of wish they had one for each gender for each class regardless. Harder to find portraits to match the game style

Check gloomhaven art & darkest dungeon art. Similar styles.
