A truly excellent deckbuilder / card battler. Beautiful artwork and well thought out rules that add extra dimensions to the genre. Well balanced, incredibly well thought out and seriously addictive. Lush dark and brooding atmosphere where mistakes will cost you dearly. Easy to pick up and bloody hard to put down. Loads of cards and avatars to start with and more to unlock in game. Even if you lose a match you are rewarded for playing and more so if you win. A game that's only going to go from strength to strength as time goes by. The dev has assured that in game purchases will be purely cosmetic although i can see dlc with more characters coming in the future. If card games, deckbuilders or CCGs are your thing PHAGEBORN is a must own.

While I refunded the game I am keeping it in my wishlist, being hopeful that is. Single player is basic gameplay. It's like saying: Guys, we have yet to implement GUI, use command line. That's how bad it is. Almost all the negative reviews here criticise lack of SP and I bet many more potential players pass it down even before trying out because of that. I would forgo any balancing for now and focus on AI development ASAP because this is a cursed circle - only MP mode attracts less players > playerbase growth is hindered > MP matches take longer to initiate > even less players play the game. I've checked your marketing and aside from (what I assume to be early-development enter campaign) you have basically no marketing on youtube or twitch, no particular video younger than two months. Your only marketing is the game as of now but it is basically unplayable for most players. It spells doom, because if you won't get more traction now you will have to spend all the more money on marketing during launch and the question is: will you have enough money? Take notes from Mythgard - they have quite a small playerbase and they have implemented some failsafes for that. You can queue your ranked matches with casuals (if they have the option to queue ranked players on) and AI, you still get ranked progress for that it's only that if you wait too long the game will initiate plan B. You have myriads of options to play solo AND multiplayer. Two years back or so, they were in alpha (you could try it out in your web browser) and the first thing you could do was to play single player campaign. If I am not mistaken the dev team behind Mythgard consists of Blizzard veterans. That all says a lot abut importance of having AI battles not only in a card game, but in any videogame. I have also reservations about user interface. It's non-intuitive and full of... little unnecessary things. It feels like every dev since Hearthstone tries to go at it from the other side - make UI grand, full of options and so on, just to differentiate from Hearthstone, but there is a reason HS is so popular still - it has neat and simple UI. The more functions and graphical flairs you add the less players will play the game, it's just that simple. I was even wondering how Hearthstone devs will deal with the necessity to implement Battlegrounds into HS menu, because they've had really straightforward menu so far, working well. They did pretty good (as you can see for yourselves). It is said that people eat with their eyes first. You can apply that to game design: You play with your eyes first. Complicated design will alienate player within the first second. I cannot talk about balancing issues, I've heard they are some, I've played one match so far, but balance is really not the issue here. Phageborn's life hangs on missing single player and already too complicated design of UI.

I haven't played that much yet, but I really like what they have going with the two lanes. Also, I really appreciate the transparency around the pricing and unlocking of content. It's great that there are developers who think about how to combat pay-2-win and include that in their work.

The Public Beta was also a really great move by the developers, so that you get to try out if you like the design and ideas before you need to decide if you'll be spending money on it - I surely did. The 2v2 is a great addition to the genre as well.

Yes, it's not super polished and there are still queues for PvP, but this is a first game by the studio, so you gotta cut them some slack for an online title even to be working.

The Early Access roadmap looks great and I have my hopes up for this team and game to be great.

I wish I could recommend this game, a lot of promise here, but either zero players are online, or, from what I can tell from searching online, the devs have abandoned the game.

I liked it, I bought it, I played it, I won my first battle, I queued again, waited 10 minutes, checked steam charts, only 14 people playing this month, refunded.

I played a couple of games and for an early access it's pretty polished gameplay-wise at least. The card art is great and this is coming from a MTG player. The business model is one of the best since it's not P2W and I think we should support this practice because it's really rare these days. The game's got a lot of room for improvement but that means it's got potential. I hope more people will find this game fun and support the company with this much dedication and a great business model. Cheers

Played in early access, could not get a game / no players + no single player. Could not really play.

UPDATE: checked the game out again over a year and a half later and it has a single player mode = joy!

I can now practice playing / learning without having to wait for a game.

Love the art / lore and some interesting mechanics with dual lane + avatars. Can't wait to get some more time with Phageborn!

Great game, awesome graphics and gameplay. Just love the world created and back story! Also really dig the audio! Highly recommend!

Game is wonderful. 2nd TCG i loved after infinity wars.
Just wished there were AI/ Single player campaign in order to test decks.
Please include AI option.
