I dont think so, you have standard attack as another option next to it, but if Im not wrong its always 40% to hit so good vs strong buffed enemies that standard attack would hit only at 5% or so.

No it's not, kills with wild strike won't activate perks tied to standard attacks, so no 5 ap regeneration for kills with wild strikes and so forth.

Wildstrike is not a standard attack. In the dev's Temporary Player Guide, he describes some class builds that select perks to enhance wild strike. The max hit chance of these characters is 50%, but when they hit, it is powerful. I highly recommend reviewing the Player Guide for this and other uses of the perk system.

After my post, I was unsuccessful at finding the player's guide.
One heavy sword wild striker (front line tank) build is as follows:
Assured Victory - Heavy
Confident Strikes - Heavy
Steel Barrage - Heavy
Chaotic Strikes - Heavy
Organized Chaos - Tactics
Impenetrable Defenses - Heavy
Heightened Awareness - Tactics
Cunning Movement - Tactics
Tireless Strikes - Heavy
Restore Stamina - Awareness
Channel Strength - Training
Vitality Training - Survival
Resolve Training/Shield Master - Survival
Defense Training - Training
Channel Defense - Training
Steady Shield x5 - Pavise

The temporary player's guide, yeah I unpinned it from discussions but moved all the information over to the official Steam guide in the guides section. Zak's build is a good wild strike build.

Yup as mentioned above, Wild Strike is an alternative attack which can be very powerful when perked correctly and a counter to high defense units.
