Steel Division 2 - Beta

Steel Division 2 - Beta

How to I tell if my artillery observer is connected and working with the arty in the rear?
Do I need an artillery leader near my artillery and a forward observer forward?
I get a comms symbol above the artillery leader whether or not their is an observer in his truck or unloaded.

I think you need two observers. One close to target, and another close to artillery units.

I still haven't figured that one out.

Explained here :

Under Tactical Combat :
Radio.

Radio

Another new unit bringing its own unique mechanic is the radio-equipped Artillerist unit. These special troops will be able to help your artillery pieces to rain more accurate fire on the enemy with the Corrected Shot mechanic.
An Artillerist will have a circular area of effect centered on the unit. Thanks to the radio, any indirect fire artillery piece will shoot with greater accuracy into the Artillerist influence zone. When using Corrected Shot, firing shells into the area will reduce the aiming time, which increases the rate of fire of your artillery piece. If you want to fire a normal, uncorrected, shot, you press “Ctrl” key while aiming.

Will shoot with greater accuracy INTO the artillerist influence zone.

As of right now - it looks like only units with a radio will get the corrected shot bonus.

So, SU-76s and Hummels have radio - so if they fire *in* to someone elses radio network, they will get a corrected shot.

Soviet mortars and F-22 guns do *NOT* have a radio, and even if they shoot in to someone elses radio network they do not get a bonus. As far as I can tell, placing these units next to a radio unit makes no difference.

Hope that helps.

tbh i am not sure if its worth to have an artillerist, 1st because his zone is small so the radio guy has to be really close to enemy targets, 2nd i feel arty is already to accurate and good rate of fire, plus it takes you one card from your deck. I need to see examples of this unit in effect
Yep. Don't know how to tell which Artillery has radios and which does not. But corrected shot will be seen when you move the artillery vehicle with a radios fire position cursor near the observer and outside of the observers influence circle the cursor will not show corrected shot anymore.

So you just need an artillery unit with a radio and an observer to be able to use corrected shot.

Artillerists aren't worth it for Soviets, because barely any Soviet artillery has a radio so barely anything benefits from them. They aren't worth it for Germans because every leader and his dog carries a radio anyway.

I really think artillerists should have a smaller aura to let them give corrected shot to near by units.
