graphics.. washed out?
IDK how to describe it? Is this conscious design decision?

If you mean that the colours are washed out then instead of going through Reshade you should be able to just press buttons on your monitor to go in settings and increase Red Green Blue, and if have advanced colour options to increase saturation the increase saturation on every colour.

Or if have Nvidia go in Nvidia control panel and turn up digital vibrancy, or whatever equivalent is on ATI cards.

I changed the render limit to off which helped. I was wondering if it was generating some HD image when running 4K... not sure

the color are washed, yeah. I like it. Seems like a "war movie filter". Makes it less brigher but more realistic on my opinion.

It is a design decision afaik. SD N44 was a bit too colourful, so they're going for a more serious and realistic tone this time. I like it a lot.

I dont like the new look, seems really dull and washed out. I cant see the units too well. Not a fan Im afraid. Its also really blurry especially when you zoom about. I've only played one full game so I need to play around with settings a bit more. I am a huge fan of SD44 but after one play through i'm not feeling it with SD2. I am reserving judgement for release though. Already pre-ordered it.

You might want to search for some old comic books if you fell the new SD graphics are good. Many were published with a washed out look to cover the color blind audience of old. Why would one purchase a high end gaming system to run through the mud hour after hour? Some may find this muddy look a deal breaker not to mention one needs a magnifying glass to see the units and the unit icons unless they are constantly scrolling in and out to see what little washed out detail is hidden at the bottom of the zoom. This required zooming in and out all but ruins the SD2 in my opinion. Hope they get it right by release date.

turning off render limit fixed it for me.
