One Developer created this game ^_^
Not a ton of my own personal experiences are influencing the story, but there certainly are some. When writing stories, and making games you need to take inspiration from many things, and life experience definitely plays a part!
Without spoiling too much; yes, you are pretty close. While the game functions as a standalone story in a fantasy, mythical world, there are certain intentional parallels to real-world people, institutions, and other aspects of society.
