Difficulty is on the normal side, I played through it entirely on the DS and I never felt like the game cheated me or was too hard. I would call it a pleasant experience in that regard. I think Curse of the moon is somewhat more difficult at times, because of enemy placement, but it is not a large give or take I felt like.

About replay value, you will get 3 Characters from the game which control quite differently, so if you like these kind of 2d Games youshould get 3 runs out of it, which is about the same amount of runs you wuld probably do in Curse of the Moon. You can get 6 runs out of this should you play every mode. I really think that both of these games have the same replay value roughly.

Difficulty is about average with a bit of hard parts involving Jason (you'll know it when you see it), while replay value options includes a hard mode that you unlock (Destroyer), a super powered mode (Unlimited) that allows you to explore at your leisure with the fully powered SOPHIA ZERO, Gunvolt (which is hard to play as) and Ekoro (harder than Gunvolt), both of these free with the game and having their own gimmicks (in Gunvolt's case specially, it's easy to sequence break)

I've yet to buy Shantae and Shovel Knight DLCs, so not gonna comment on them yet. But if it is worth? Hell. Yeah.

Curse of the moon is way harder, atleast comparing normal mode in both games. I can´t say on harder diffilculty or other characters but the default setting is rather easy. Bosses are really easy if you use the right weapons.

Really the replayability value for this game is quite low when you think that the EX characters, despite of having different controls and gimmicks you will still have to do the exact same map about 5 times each, and the abilities of these different characters don't do much in the overworld sections, as the tank is heavily required for it.

Depending on the character, certain sections and fights can go rather differently as they often have improved movement abilities compared to Jason. (There is a vid of someone taking on the True Final boss with Gunvolt outside the tank for the most part)

To say Destroyer mode is hard is putting it lightly as there's a number of changes to the gameplay (starting with suicide bullets) that will likely have you be grateful for the infinite lives and plentiful save points.

But the normal game itself is a bit easy, particularly compared with the original.

This is the third time I played again
Still going destroyer mode , and will play the remaining EX characters :praisesun:
so i think replay value for BMZ is yeet
I wish there was a difficulty between normal(easy mode central) and Destroyer(hardestestest).

Suicide bullets, fine. Limited powerups, fine. Enemies that can only be hurt with specific weapons, fine.
But not all three at once. If I need all my guns to kill things with, then give me my friggin' energy guard so I don't lose my guns!

As far as the EX characters... you can leave Sophia III entire STAGES behind, since they're all more powerful than Jason, jump higher than Jason, and don't take fall damage like Jason. Sometimes you can actually do more damage outside the tank than inside it*. At points, I only kept the tank around for the homing missiles.

*Offer void if Gunvolt is exposed to water.

Destroyer mode is no joke that's for sure.

Can confirm. GV is broken against sidescroller/SOPHIA enemies with his Flashfield. Hell, I'd say he's even better there than on top-down segments, mainly because it's tough to aim his tags there, and the Flashfield drains too much EP for the damage it deals. Would've been better if top-down GV was given his double-tap down to regain energy faster like in the original games.
