Does this have continue/save feature?
See title. Because the original didn't. Loved the original when I was a kid. Grenade trick was a life saver. Also remember the frustration of never being able to get passed the plutonium boss.and having to start all over again.

Yes the NES was way more fun. I was proud as hell to beat that area 5 crab boss, and I had no tricks like grenade. When I beat level 8 I was over the moon. I played so much that I could beat it with one life...if that crab didnt get me hehe

It's funny because we first learned about the grenade trick from nintendo power magazine. my neighbor was the only kid that had a subscription so the rest of us would go over there and read it. Before the grenade trick, I couldn't get passed the part after getting hover. Once got to the red fred and he kicked my ass. I can't believe I remember that lol

Shame I learned about it after finishing the game. It seems that you cant just walk back and kill the rest of the bosses, looks like I have to do it all again all because I skipped 2 bosses...derp.

Shame I just cant extra a code to play hard mode.

If it's the normal ending you can, it's just not straight forward (World 7's blocked off by purple stuff passage is where you'd come out in taking the reverse route; it ceases to be blocked off upon entering world 8 where you just leave right away)

I dont mind it too much. They slimmed down the underwater section which i think is an improvement, though i do miss the volcano things. and area 8 is a ton easier now that you get i-frames between damage. Falling into the spike/acid pits was a nightmare, and could have been handled differently.

I think my biggest complaints are that fred is a bot, theres no more flying gunner bots in area 2 and 3, the cool rammy ones are gone from area 3 too, the Plutonium King was renamed to Mutant Lord (likely for copyright issues with the book the original games based on) and that area 7 has no point anymore. In the original, area 7 had the ceiling grip upgrade, something you didnt get in glacier. This said, im not really surprised they merged the two, but they still could have had *something* in area 7. Im also not a fan of the remixs they did for area 2, 6, and 8s ost. I swear 2 was more upbeat than that, 6 and 8 were creepy and made you feel the solitude of where you were. 8 moreso with the riff that sounded like the game was laughing at you. Itd of been nice if they kept those a little closer to the original feel.
OH YEAH AND THE MUTANT FROM THE COVER OF THE ORIGINAL ISNT IN THE GAME! I was expecting them to use him as a tank section (much like i expected the original to do!)

Keep in mind that some of these things are more in line with the original japanese version (NA Master Blaster took a large number of liberities with the translation)
