I also would have preferred a "no art filter" toggle in the options for easier access to the original visuals. I greatly dislike blurring old artwork to make it look more "modern", much like what Square Enix did with their terrible mobile phone versions of several Final Fantasy games - which are what we got here on Steam. What an insult to the originals.
The PS1 port is still playable (and the changes made cause of different hardware is understandable) but they really should have used the Saturn version. At least Grandia 2 used the Dreamcast version over the original PC and PS2 ports.
