Grandia is too easy?
I mean..the final boss is a complete joke once my characters nearly max out their SP moves and Magic moves(except Rapp). And not a single time did the bosses from the story caused any challenge...

Or is this the port of the game that causes it to be easy?

Actually Grandia is indeed very easy. Not exactly easy because everything is a joke, but because its gameplay systems are VERY exploitable in the way they are made (the element ones), so it is easy to get overleveled with them by accident. There's the "Grandia Redux" mod for PS1 (or for SegaSaturn, can't remember which one) that makes the game harder, if you want the harder experience.

As a challenge, you may want to make a low-level run (avoid all normal encounters except those you cannot run away from). That's a veeery hard challenge (specially in the Alent bosses).

I mean..yeah I can tell that the mechanics seemed like exploitable. Especially given how suddenly I got Justin to use Dragon Cut instantly after getting powerful equipment.

I take it that this mod won't be possible to port on Steam's version?

I thought that until searching and...oh wow turns out someone DID manage to setup Grandia ReDux for the Steam port!

And it has some quite recent updates (2 months), which is very nice.

EDIT: forgot to link the reddit thread where I found (posted by JBDCE him/herself): https://www.reddit.com/r/grandia/comments/fwm1yu/just_a_proof_of_concept_right_now_grandia_redux/

Like any game, just handicap yourself if you want a challenge. Trying fully clearing the Tower of Temptation without any additionally learned magic and 1 weapon type per character or something, maybe make a rule to NEVER use any of Feena's god tier magic attacks etc.

Grandia 2 (including hard mode) and 3 do have the same problem (and not just Grandia, but several other games of that time as well). The overall difficulty allows to skip way more than half of small enemies while still being easily beatable if you know, how the battle system works. One thing i would recommend (if you want it to be more challenging) is to only use critical hits to prevent death. It's just way too broken, especially against single enemy bosses. Also avoid the Miracle-Items you get from beating the tower of temptation.
