Gadwin didn't teach me Dragon Cut
After you defeat Gadwin during your second duel he is supposed to teach you his Dragon Cut technique. That didn't work for me. He said that he taught it to me but the movie isn't in my movelist. I learned a technique called Midair cut later on, but never the Dragon Cut. How do I learn the technique? Or did I somehow miss the chance to learn it?

You need Sword 16, Fire 6, Earth 7 too learn this skill

Okay. So I might as well give up on learning it then. I'm about to enter Zil desert and so far I've barley used the earth skill at all.

Just use the spell diggin, it racks up earth exp pretty fast and only costs 1 Lv 1 mp. Just cast it several times during a couple of fights. You'll hit earth level 7 in no time.

The advice above about Diggin goes for every character too. There isn't a good way to build Earth magic at the low levels except through that spell. Some characters learn a really useful spell after their Earth gets to level 6 or 10 (but not all), and it is definitely worth learning. This game is, unfortunately, one where you need to spam worthless spells A LOT in order to get the really good ones.

Yeah, I've noticed that. It's why I'm probably way behind in leveling my magic since I barely use it. Usually Strong moves and combos are enough to get me through fights.

I went the other way and tried to build my magic levels a lot with very little fighting. I think either strategy will work- when you level up a weapon skill it builds your strength and SP, making battles easier if you attack. If you go the magic route, it builds MP and teaches better spells, making magic the easier option. As long as you stick to your guns with one or the other, this game isn't one with impossibly difficult bosses and a lot of the finer strategy points just go out the window because you rarely ever need them.

Magic also increases your stats, which ones depending on the element.

You can find this in the game menus as well, but just in case anyone wants the list fire raises wit, water raises hp, wind raises agility, and earth raises strength.

This game becomes exponentially easier when you take the time to level up any skills that are lagging behind because of the way the game handles stuff like that.
