Honest opinion PS1 vs. PC
Can anyone that has played the PS1 version and the PC please give me an honest opinion of which they think on the whole is the better version? I own two copies of the original PS1 2 disc game and I'm wondering if buying the PC version is better.

Try to discount the extra faff that setting up a PS1 these days is.

Thanks.

-PC has the advantage of 3D with perspective correction, so the infamous PS1 wobble isn't a thing.

- Japanese audio dub actually works fully, unlike the undub versions, no longer mix languages at
the wrong times.

- Loading times are much faster

- Rumble support in Xbox 360/ Xbox 1 pads
Thanks.

PS1 with the Undub patch is the ultimate version. Both in graphics and audio.

The best thing about the PS1 is the Grandia ReDux mod:

It increases the difficulty which improves the game a lot since it is extremely easy without it. Hopefully a similar mod will pop for the PC version.

I think it makes more sense to compare an emulated PSX version vs the PC version. But I think what has not been said is the PC version is widescreen and has a highres font.

The PC version isn't widescreen, they cropped they it to 16:9.
You're losing visual content by playing the PC version.

PSX also has way more slowdowns due to hardware restrictions.

I tested the Etsuna patch 2.0 and there were moments were the sound effects were missing during dialogue (Baal's footsteps and Justin getting punched to name the first ones). Pixel graphics ftw but slowdown by the buckets is meh.

Well, emulate it, there will be no slowdowns, and the image quality will be better.

What? Most modern PS1 emulators have widescreen support, and some even have ultrawide support.

Try Retroarch emulator if you want to try it, it has a ton of features that make games way better looking than they did on PS1.

Dude that looks like complete a$$... This is enough to convince me that I don't need this!

Saturn version is the best version. Why didn't they base the hd version off that?
Textures are messed up on PS1 port(which hd ia based on and still has the issue) and is missing shadows.
I don't know why devs always chose the inferior version of a game for hd collection.

Well, not his emulation, but the discussions here have videos of emulation that look way better than the remaster.
