I have and still doesn't explain why a game like this takes this long to make? It's not like it's Balder's Gate 3.
Yes but these guys weren't game developers either, and probably bit off a lot more that they thought thy could chew.
At least there appears to be some end in sight.
maybe we know about 1.0 date in the next dev diary
How about Palword, Subnautica, Stardew Valley, Hollowknight, Hades or Rocket League? Any of those comparable or should I keep going down the list of indy game studios with team smaller than Studio FOW that made a game in less time? Two of those were made by a single person by the way. I mean I can keep going with examples if I really need to, but Studio FOW aren't pioneers by any stretch of the imagination and treating them like they are is well....you said it, dumb and downright laughable. Half the work is animations, which Studio FOW has plenty of experience making.
The real issue is early access, Steam never should have done it. Paying for a product that isn't finished just removes all incentive to actually finish the product. They already got your money and have no legal obligation to deliver anything.
Subnautica took 5 years to make
Palworld took 3 years
Stardew Valley took 4 years and a half to make (And has been in developmen for 10 years)
HollowKnight took 3 years to make
Hades took 3 years to make
Rocket League took 2 years.
(Sources, I googled it)
Wow Its almost like you defeated your own argument.
Games take years to make.
Subverse is at 4 years and it coming to an end. It's a little slower but you act like it's that big of a difference. because a game didn't enter early access doesn't mean it hasn't been worked on for years before you even HEARD about it.
