Is there any way to silence the Captain's audio?
No offense to the voice actor, but I'd prefer a silent protagonist. Can I even delete MP3's or something in the game's files?

Looks like only the video files are openly accessible, with everything else being packed in archives, so you'll need to get a hold of whatever program they used to pack them to do anything first.

Deleting the voice files from the archives might work, or might cause crashes. If it's the latter, you could probably replace the respective files with blank ones, that have a single second of silence or somesuch.
Devs have to make a choice on the silent protagonist or not, for a reason.
Probably a lot of things are tied to cues originating from voice lines. If it uses engine cues, the signal for continuity is definitely tied to the voice lines.
That is why design decisions are kinda big deal.
The "everything should be a choice" of modern audience is rather annoying, and gets in the way of a lot of hours of development that could go into making the game actually better.

Muting the captain would make things exponentially better, maybe not for you... but certainly for others... its almost as if that feature in currently growing popularity and getting asked for with more frequency for for a reason.... so whats the real problem.. do you not have faith in the developers ability to implement a relatively simple feature in a timely manner or something?

As our user base continues to grow, we have seen an increasing number of requests to disable certain features or entirely remove specific content from the game. For example, some users have asked to completely remove the Captain from dialogue scenes, while others have expressed a dislike for Fortune, feeling that she doesn’t belong in the game. At the same time, some users find Sova to be a frustrating character, whereas others are convinced - and rightly so - that Sova is very likable.

We deeply appreciate your perspective and at the same time we hope you can understand that the game is a reflection of the designers' vision.

The Captain, for instance, is an integral part of the narrative, and his dialogue plays a key role in the game’s storytelling. Since this vision is brought to life through the characters and their interactions, removing/muting such core elements is not something we can consider at this time.

It is truly disheartening for us to hear that some aspects of the game may not meet your expectations. Our team has poured immense passion and effort into creating Subverse, and we genuinely value every bit of feedback we receive. While we understand that players may have different opinions about certain elements of the game, our current focus is on enhancing the experience by adding new features rather than removing existing ones.

Thank you so much for your understanding, and we sincerely apologize if we were unable to fully meet your expectations.

Regards,
Tibor
