They said they are looking for AAA talent last I heard.
While your payment request might seem enticing to them, I'm going to guess it's criminally low....with an emphasis on criminal. I'm pretty sure that would violate UK minimum wage law. I'm not knowledgeable on wage law when it comes to international, in any way shape or form, but even at the expanded $500 per month (you request 40 hrs per week...so 160 hrs per month) you're asking for $3.13 per hour. That may be a lot where you are, but that is suspiciously low where they are.
I do remember trying to break into the animation industry (15 years ago) and how utterly painful it was. I did a few short projects for free (DON'T DO THIS!) and other things like this just to get my foot into a door...any door. Learn what reasonable pay is and low ball that (if you feel the need). This just has red flags all over it and would sound off red flags to any HR person in the UK.
Not doing stuff for free is a great advice, unfortunatly I've already had an experience with that =)
You think that kind of price tag would scare away even these solo devs doing their very own indie titles? I've posted the same message on a few more games pages with a way tighter budget and for now I am really not looking to suck on someone's last coin drop.
And out of curiosity did knocking doors lead to something and most importantly kept you in similar or related business sphere?
