Free Camera

I understand FOW is from the movie industry, so they want to implement their movie direction skills in the game.

But free camera is a feature present in almost every sucessful game from this genre. I don't think it can be replaced with pure talent and skill in direction. It's just a part of gamers expectations.

I am sure this is just a small investment for a HUGE return.

I don't think thats true, but idk. Pretty sure it is in 3d, but some details are probably not present, like I doubt they animate the "openings" when not directly in frame.

EDIT: Also they run kinda laggy sometimes which makes me think it is rendered in real time for whatever reason.(possibly so outfits owrk in future maybe?)

Are you sure? From what I can see those are 3d models alright. For example, this is what you can see in free camera mode in the first scene, for me looks 3d:

oof, so my asumption was correct. These animations are fugly from other views. Looks like their animation pipeline was definately centered on the idea of forced perspective. Makes sense from a movie studio, but uinless they have it streamlined enogh to crank out way more than other h games this way, they will need to change how they do things to get more milage out of one loop.
