Tim Pool is a Youtube journalist. He has a channel that shares the name of the game whose forum you are now in. The matter will be settled between the two involved parties, and personally, I hope it will be amicable.

Back and forth argument in this forum is not doing anything to solve the issue, not matter what level of insight or expertise the poster have. There are Tim fans and there are fans of the game.

Nothing we say here will affect the kickstarter or change the situation.

This forum is a place to discuss issues about the game, or try to fin answers, for better or worse... but we won't get the answer to the name/trademark issue but argument or insults. I have heard misrepresentations of both the facts and the associated law by parties from both sides.

I sincerely hope that everyone can reach a settlement that works for them. There was no ill intent on the part of the Studio. StudioFOW a small independent team that is working very hard to make a game that fans are very excited to play.

There is not much that can be added here, either way.

I will be designating this thread as an "answer" and locking it.

I wish everyone well, on both sides.

Thanks - Mod

Tim's a opinion guy on youtube. He is mad that one of his sub channels called subverse is less popular than this game so he is threating the studio with legal action. He probably won't win because owning a word is ridiculous and other things including a tv show on steam are called subverse but that doesn't stop his fans from brigading.

He is some independent journalist, pretty good one actually, who own news channel of the same name and he got emotional when he found out about this game, becouse its more prominent in search results now and he doesn't want to be associated with porn game.

Tim Pool is a journalist that had previously talked about Studio FOW and they presumably knew who he was. He is associated with a media company called Subverse, which by coincidence or not is what they chose to name this game. The were very rude to him when he contacted them about it.

i mean subverse is a actual word so unless his name is actually in the game he had no chance of being associated with it

Ok, let's try again without the nonsence.

Tim pool is primarily known for his journalistic work, who does independent stories, but also has work in other media including games.

He copyrighted a IP 'Subverse'. Unfortunately he did not extend that internationally. Since the devs are in manchester, they outside the jurisdiction of US legal codes, sort of.

Apparently he tried to get in contact with him, and they rudely brushed him off. Now he's deploying a legal case against them.

People arn't happy. I too, am not happy.

are you telling me this guy made the word "subversive" ?

Either way, StudioFOW now has a lawsuit on their hands. I'd be careful about donating to StudioFOW or preordering the game, you don't know if that money will be wasted on legal fees.

Not "subversive", "Subverse".

subverse
Verb
(third-person singular simple present subverses, present participle subversing, simple past and past participle subversed)

Copies from my earlier post on this:

Subvert is in common usage, but the adjective is never used and is considered an archaic form of speech. You claim the copyright.

Tim didnt give us any evidence for any claims he made so far, but he was very salty about Google and how he lost his spot nr. 1 in the search algorythm for the word Subverse, so im not sure if i give Tim here a free card so easily...

He framed FOW Studio as thiefs and showed no evidence for any crued correspondence.

And im not that stupid to believe a left journo everything, he is normally a good reporter, but he goes for money now, and that shows allways your baddest attitude...

And fact is, UK trademark isnt US trademark. There is a reason for international copyright...
