We will continue making movies in the future. Instead of jumping into movies right away in a new engine, we chose to get some practice by using the game as our experimental lab.
We’ve already improved so much from 6 months ago, and we feel that we will improve even more during the development of Subverse. This will make sure we avoid the dreaded “first-year syndrome” that plagues 3DCG artists who are still learning a new engine.
Case in point - compare Lara in Trouble (2014) to Kunoichi 3 (2018), which was done in the same engine. The difference due to experience is vast. The experience we gain on the game, while the programmers are able help us with a lot of the toughest tasks, will translate into much higher quality movies.
*
Q: Will Subverse be your main focus for 2019?
A: Yes, we will be spending most of our time on Subverse. However, our animators will switch back over to the movie pipeline towards the tail-end of 2019 as they finish up their duties on the game.
*
Q: Why are you keeping funding of the game and movies separate?
A: The easy explanation is that some fans might be very interested in our movies but have no interest in a game, and vice-versa. This gives our supporters an easy option when it comes to funding the future of the studio.
*
Q: Are you outsourcing any aspects of the game production?
A: No. Everything will be done in-house in order to develop the skills of our already talented core team. The UE4 programmers we brought on board have signed long-term contracts with the studio and will be assisting us in other pipelines such as VR and movies.
*
Q: Is this going to be different from the flash games you did before?
A: It’s like comparing a Lada to a Ferrari - not even in the same league.
*
Q: How many..uhh...romanceable ladies are there in the game?
A: There are nine waifus planned for the full game if we reach the necessary Kickstarter goals. The early access build will launch with four romanceable waifus, plus DEMI. She also gets several love scenes but does not count as a party member as she prefers piloting the ship to fighting.
*
Q: This looks very sci-fi, will there be alien waifus?
A: No StudioFOW sci-fi game would be complete without bangable alien waifus
*
Q: How about alien monsters? Will we see some of the ladies getting it on with some xeno lifeforms?
A: Yes! The volume and variety will depend on the Kickstarter goals.
A: You play as the Captain of the Mary Celeste, who is canonically male.
*
Q: Are there any gay/lesbian relationship options?
A: We plan to include a diverse range of sex scenes based on fan demand.
*
Q: Can you only pursue one character at a time or is this a free-for-all harem?
A: You can romance as many characters as you want during your playthrough. It is a harem fantasy after all.
*
Q: Will the sex scenes be animated or are you just gonna cuck us with stills and voiceovers?
A: There will be animations, of course!
*
Q: Speaking of voices, how many VA’s did you have in this?
A: Every major character will be voiced in the Early Access build. Voice acting in the full game will depend on the necessary Kickstarter goal being met.
*
Q: Will there be enemies in the game? If so, is there a type of combat system?
A: There several enemy factions in the game who show up in both space and ground combat missions. They use varying tactics, e.g. the Space Pirates have chaotic, aggressive styles while the Imperium plays more tactically, with lots of heals and shields.
*
Q: Can I get my desired waifu pregnant?
A: We definitely want to explore pregnancy options (both human and xeno) but it will depend on the amount we raise on Kickstarter and our corresponding budget.
*
Q: Are any of the waifu’s chix with dix?
A: There will be futanari options for some of the love scenes thanks to the genius of Lily’s science. Whether or not they are permanently futa is still undecided.
*
Q: How long do you intend the game will take to complete?
A: If we hit the 150K Kickstarter goal and end up with 10 chapters, it’s going to be least a 20 hour game to complete the main storyline and each of the waifu’s loyalty missions.
*
Q: Do you have to work for your sex, or is this one of those hentai stories where everyone is just hungry for the protag’s ♥♥♥♥?
A: You have to work for the sex, old-school style! There’s no boosts or paywalls either so you better start leveling your waifus.
*
Q: So is the game done already?
A: It is not – all modules are currently playable but only in an alpha state, and we have a lot of conceptualized content not yet produced.
*
Q: I was an old Patreon supporter, do I get any benefits or privileges?
A: Yes! Patreon VIP supporters (lifetime support of $500 or over) can request a free key from Fow-Chan on our Discord. Please provide us with your old Patreon e-mail so we can cross-check our records. (SOON!)
A: Beta testers will be able to provide feedback on the game via our Discord beta forum, as well as in-game bug reports. Pledge to the Big Bang Theorist tier (£75 or more) to become an official member of the testing and quality team!
We are able to be as transparent as possible with the community because this is 100% our own original IP, therefore your input and analysis of the game will be crucial to its success, especially in the earliest phases.
We value the community’s input if it objectively makes the game more fun and streamlined to play. However, we are definitely trying to avoid feature creep as much as possible since this is our first game.
*
Q: Will there be any NDA’s regarding what we test or can we talk about it freely?
A: There will be no NDA’s as the early access will be an iterative and transparent process between ourselves and the community.
*
Q: Can you put FOW-chan in the game?
A: Fowchan will likely not be making an appearance as she has mortals to terrorize on Earth! Sorry! :(
A: We will continue making movies in the future. Instead of jumping into movies right away in a new engine, we chose to get some practice by using the game as our experimental lab.

*
Q: What measures are being taken to make sure this isn't a "Shards of Eradine" situation where an ambitious eroge project completely fails?
A: This game has two project managers involved that have over 20 years of combined business experience between them in their respective industries. We have two lead programmers that have already released several successful Steam titles on their own. It's being produced by Studio FOW, and we've released 16 movies, 5 games and over 30 shorts in the few years we've been operating. The game is already fully functional and in alpha state. There is 0% this does not happen, and 100% chance it will be amazing.
*
Q: Is the tone in the trailer representative of the tone throughout the game? Should we expect this to be a comedy from start to finish? What about the 4th wall-breaking moments?
A: The game is very comedic but I'd compare it more to something like South Park - despite the absurdist humor there are some deep and dark ethical issues the script explores like xenophobia, genocide, genetic manipulation, fascism, sexual oppression, etc.
As far as the 4th wall stuff goes, we give it to you at an appropriate pace for maximum enjoyability.
*
Q: Will we be able to dress up our waifus?
A: Yes, there will eventually be a wide variety of extra outfits available for your waifus, along with color and accessory customization options.
*
Q: Can you replay sex scenes?
A: Yes! Any unlocked sex scenes can be viewed at your leisure inside the captain's quarters.
*
Q: How many alien races will we get to bang?
A: Almost all of them.
*
Q: How long will Subverse be?
A: We're aiming to have a 30 Hour+ experience for the full game.
*
Q: Will Subverse be available in multiple languages?
A: We fully intend to translate Subverse for many regions like China, Russia, etc. eventually. However, this is a long and expensive process to get it right, so please be patient with us.
*
Q: Do the Boin Boin Weekly pages have a function in the game other than collectibility?
A: You will unlock something if you collect them all, but we can't reveal that yet.
*
Q: Will the game have difficulty settings at all?
A: No, but the difficulty setting is more on the casual side. However, the gameplay is designed to have a fun, fast-paced arcade-style feel and we intend to put systems in place that reward the player for performing at a high level.
So basically there's something here for both casuals and hardcore gamers, but don't expect the Dark Souls of boners.
*
Q: Will every previous FOW voice actor/actress have a role in the game?
A: You'll be seeing a lot of FOW vets in this game along with some very talented newcomers.
*
Q: Will there be mod support?
A: We do not intend to feature mod support at this time.
*
What are the minimum system requirements?
Minimum:
Windows 7, 8, 10 (64bit)
Intel Core i3-2100, AMD FX-6300
4GM RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760, AMD Radeon HD 7950
Direct X 11
Storage 20GB
Recommended:
Windows 7, 8, 10 (64bit)
Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD Ryzen 5 1400
8GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 570
Direct X 11
Storage 20GB
A: The only time you'll need two hands is for the SHMUP sections.
*
Q: Can we play as a woman?
A: We would have loved to make this possible, but having two different gendered protagonists is far too logistically difficult and expensive for this particular project.
*
Q: Will there be threesome, gang bang or orgy options?
A: Sorry, no spoilers.
*
Q: What would the ratio h-scenes to actual gameplay be in Subverse?
A: This is a real video game from start to finish, so there is a significant amount of gameplay to enjoy. Don't worry, though...there's plenty of other “action” as well.
*
Q: Will a Mac or Linux be supported?
A: This may be possible eventually but we do not have plans in place at this time.
*
Q: Will there be free-camera during the sex scenes so we can get whatever angle we want?
A: We can't spoil the details of the camera system just yet, but expect some steamy options.
*
Q: Will there be an option to mute Captain's voice during sex scenes?
A: The Captain will not speak during the sex scenes. That includes ♥♥♥♥-grunting.
*
Q: Will the manticores you create develop or evolve with experience?
A: Yes, they will level similarly to the waifus but are less complex.
*
Q: Will Subverse be available from places other than steam?
A: At the moment we are sticking with Gabe.
*
Q: What will Subverse's regular price be when it releases?
A: It will be very affordable.
*
Q: Is the game going to be made in mind for mouse and keyboard players?
A: The game is fully designed for mouse and keyboard – even the SHMUP sections!
*
Q: Achievements? Tentacles?
A: Yes.
*
Q: VR? Pregnancy?
A: Maybe eventually.
*
Q: Multiplayer? Beasty?
A: No.
If you like what you see, get involved. The kickstarter is going off, and the more funding they get, the better this game can be.
You KNOW you want it....

TO summarize, "Only animation and fluff - DC"
They will be live and interactive. I am sure there will be other types of scenes, but the main ero scenes in the game, are real time. Picture from the KS with details.
