Talisman: Origins vs Digital Edition for solo play
Howdy, I'm new to Talisman and interested in jumping in for solo play. I'm wondering what the differences are between origins and the digital edition, the digital edition looks to have a lot more content with possibly more coming? Just curious on your guys thoughts on what is better for solo play, also from what I've read games can last hours which is fine as long as I can pause in case that is an issue. Thanks for the help.

Origins is better for solo play - The AI in Talisman: DE is dumb and not a challenge at all.

Thanks, how does the dlc content compare? Is the digital edition the main focus or will they both be getting plenty of dlc as time goes by?

The main difference between the two is that Origins is only played solo and gives you a series of quests to perform. Sometimes you're completely alone on the board during these quests; other times you may have one or more AI-controlled characters opposing you.

T:DE is only played versus other characters, either AI or live, with the goal being to reach the center of the board and complete the task required there to win the game. These endgame tasks can be selected from a group of possibilities at the start of the game or drawn randomly.

But does Orgins include Dungons, City and other two expansions on corner of the map which makes game board bigger ?

Origins has all the expansion content playable, plus a lot of stuff you wont see in T:DE that is story and quest specific. The downside is there is no multiplayer, and you can not set up random games and random rulesets, you play the quests. The quests do have multiple objectives, so there is a lot of replayabilty in the quests themselves.

Quick answer, if you dont care about competitive multiplayer, the Origins is by far the superior version. If you want multiplayer, DE is the only option.

I'm going to be the odd one out here and say I prefer the original board game even for solo play compared to Origins. Origins has dedicated solo play, but the storyline can be quite thin and makes the game very rigid. You can't do free play and select characters and winning strategies, you're locked into a scenario. This can work well, but other times it's downright frustrating as you're playing against chance and having to reroll dozens of times to get the roll you need to win with nothing else interesting happening. They both have their pros and cons, but I'd go the base game if only going for one personally.
