This did not work for me, unfortunately. I can still use the controller in menus, but in game I can do nothing except, while in cars, move the right stick to rotate the camera. On-foot however, the right stick does nothing.
I'm using a PS5 controller and thus need the steaminput activated, since Mafia DE came out before the PS5 and never added pc support for the controller. I played through the campaign in the beginning of june with this same controller and hardware with no issue.
It's so weird that all of us are having this problem Very Recently.
One other thing I've noticed that I don't think has been mentioned in here - when I start a new campaign and am tasked with driving the cab away from the bad guys, the tooltip that pops up says "Hold _____ to Accelerate," with a big blank spot where the right trigger glyph should be.
Same with me, sadly
Maybe it's time to forget this and move on to Mafia2.....
What controller are you using on Epic? On Steam at least, the game doesn't recognize PS5 controllers so you *have* to use Steam Input, so you can't control in-game. Same with folks using Steam Deck.
I've put in a ticket with 2K support (since it's probably on their end to fix, as this issue doesn't seem to be happening to any other games), but they've been giving me the runaround with the most boilerplate troubleshooting "tips" that have nothing to do with the control issue.
Great to hear that as I reported this to Steam support. Hopefully, somehow this gets fixed by someone.
I just bought the trilogy to replay some memories from the time when I played Mafia classic but could not even start :(
2K support has kept giving me automated "troubleshooting" tips that have nothing to do with the actual problem. I don't know how to get through to an actual human. Maybe a dev is on twitter?
I really love the Mafia remake - i wasn't sure about it at first, especially with Tommy's new voice, but it and he really grew on me. It's the same general story as last time, except they added so much context to everything that happens. I replayed the original earlier this month and was surprised to remember how much of it was just separate unconnected events in a row. The remake does a great job of making the whole thing feel more like an interconnected story for the most part. All the new performances are fantastic, and Tommy is made to be much more assertive and characterful than the nearly completely passive 2-by-4 he was in the original (but i'll always still love original Tommy). I hope you get to play it soon.
To make it work you'll have to select the game in the Steam UI choose the cogwheel (settings) -> Properties -> Controller -> CHANGE Use default settings to Disable steam Input
Now you should be able to play the game using your external controller until someone fixes it and we are able to play using the deck's controller again :)
Hope this helps everyone.
if you have xbox one or series controller simply disable the steam input option this will make it work without any problem.
if you have a ps5 or 4 controller there is no solution you must wait for steam or 2k to fix it, or buy another controller.
