Black screen fix ? SOS

when i start the game nothing happens just a black screen for 3 sec and the it exits the game, I've tried every solution like run as an admin or going to the properties and playing in offline mode nothing really worked out for me......should i refund it before it's too late ?

same for me, i launched the game through steam, and it asked me how to start it and i picked the second option (with a launcher or something) and then it launched

then you just have to press start at the ingame menu and it should start

I just had this happen to me and this fixed it- go into your launch options and opt for the "Game Launcher", run that and do some settings if need be, running the launcher for the first time seemed to fix the black-screen, apply and then play.

The launcher appeared in the first time and then didn't appear again even if i choose the launcher option

right click on game - properties - general - launch options settings - box should let you pick which one or request that you have "always ask" on each time you open the game.

I did this amigo I've tried every option in that box it started once and in the next time back to the black screen, The game is so fckn stupid ig

I've sent an email to the 2k support about the problem i will wait a one day and then refund it

i just find that on another topic :

1. Go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mafia Definitive Edition
2. Right click on "mafiadefinitiveedition.exe" then "properties" then "compatibility".
3. Check the box for "Disable fullscreen optimizations" apply and ok.

If you are still having a black screen, delete the folder "Mafia Definitive Edition" (which will also delete your saves) located at: C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games

problem solved since i check the box for "Disable fullscreen optimizations" and applied.
i can play in full screen, full settings with the normal laucher without having to use the settings launcher.

the disable fullscreen optimizations , is not even a fix , you can't use HDR or RTX HDR , and when you record with obs the color are all fckd up wish they finaly patch this game , along with the classic difficulty race which is absurd i had less trouble finishing all the souls game and elden ring than beating the race with classic dificulty. Brought the game back when it came out , even pre ordered it , had a very good moment on it , but now that i dig deeper i think they not so 10/10 on what they did , and i'm afraid for the new mafia game
