PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cant for the life of me find a layout or setting within the game or steam deck that'll show me the correct icon to use within the game. For instance, whenever an object that can be interacted with appears on screen, the game will prompt me to press a button but its just an image of a white rectangle. I'm playing on mouse and keyboard, it doesn't tell me which letter on the keyboard correlates to what action in game. it took me about 20 mins and 12 deaths to figure out that left alt was the button to counter a melee attack.

Have you tried playing the game in desktop mode instead of big picture?

Game completely runs like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on my OG Deck in 1920X1200 (Deck HD)(proton experimental)... and the controls were infuriating on deck (even from NVME SSD). I switched to Desktop PC with KBM.. and game plays like a dream.
