It still worth buying this game in 2025? And what about Mafia 2 Definitive Edition?

Hello. I was thinking to buy this game, but I'm not sure. Usually I'm a modern and futuristic gangster lol. XD Jokes aside, anyway, it still worth buying this game in 2025? And what about Mafia 2 Definitive Edition? I wanna get a game with better logic, more fun, no repetitive, no boring, a big open world, better details, more features, no bugs and no glitches. But I'm not sure, should I get this game or Mafia 2 Definitive Edition? And for those people who played Mafia series years ago, can y'all tell me your experience?

Mafia definitive edition was AMAZING it was actually life changing and then mafia 2 definitive was a dissappointment imo but i would completely recommend mafia 1 it is such a good story, graphic are amazing and story is great.

As someone who just finished the game and completed all the achievements, I can confidently say it's worth it. The remaster is amazing, and the story is good, though it might feel a bit short compared to Mafia 2 or 3. The open world feels incredibly alive, with NPCs walking around and doing random things like reading newspapers or talking to each other. The developers clearly worked hard to replicate the 1930s vibe, and they nailed it.

I also encountered almost no bugs during my playthrough. There were maybe once or twice when I died out of nowhere, but it wasn’t a big deal. Handling cars in this game can be tedious at first, but over time, you'll get used to it, and driving those 1930s cars will feel amazing.

If you're considering buying this game, here are some tips: if you want to complete all the achievements, start the game in Classic Mode, as there's an achievement for finishing it in this mode. Classic Mode is much harder, with police having almost perfect aim in some missions, and it's difficult to escape them. However, if you're just here for the story, play on the easiest difficulty possible, since all difficulty levels feel quite similar, except for Classic Mode. :D

obviously 1:DE over 2, just because it's not a great remaster. the classic's bugs carried over.
though non of these, outside of 3, has a major focus on open world, which is the ubi-towers kind, so "open world" and "repetitive" kinda cancel out the recommendation. plus the bugs.
part of what's good about 1:DE is that they rolled things back to more how 2 was, so it's the closest to how a modern mafia 2 would play like.
in 2's favor, it does have 2 fleshed out dlcs, where as 1:DE doesn't have any.

though if you do go with 1:DE, you should be aware of that if you aren't able to limit frames on the hardware side, that it might heat up your pc faster than you'd expect.

I was also going to ask, worth getting this game (i have the original) just refused to pay the asking price for something that's only had a graphical overhaul (used to be free updates) but now they sell as a new game at whatever the market price is (right now that's what 2.5x the original price the game came out with to start). Fine for players who don't own but sheesh those that do feel like we getting screwed.

Anyways was going to ask if it was worth getting at just under £5 right now, but then i am also seeing many players having black screen issue's, game no longer saving progress issue's, blurred graphics, game constantly crashing in the forums over the 1st 2 pages, which completely puts me off, even at that price. But i still had to ask the question??

always, it is so great, i can play this every 6 months again and again...
wish they made some focused on multiplayer 3rd person perspective shoter made on mafia 1 engine, - how enemy behave after shot its great, take close look when you shot him in a knee or arm... poetic :)

now i played modern "shoter" where you pull 3-4 shots in dude... he still running to you and stab you with bayonet like it those bullets was nothing.
just notice how genious physics you can find in mafia, especially shoting and driving (except ram detail but no need to use it if u dont want to)
wish old times will have mafia 1 engine, and i hope they will surprise everybody with great multiplayer... :) :) :) that would be wow

all 3 are def worth it, i had zero issues with OG Mafia 2 and DE 1/2, but with mafia 3DE....... i had ALOT of random crashes,

I lately played the original.
Apart from a few minor story changes i think the Remake/Definitive Edition is better.
I also think the gameplay is better.
In the original some deaths just felt undeserved.
