Repost:
They meant if the workaround was no longer required.
other than this.. thats the only thing that will prevent dx11 games on win 7 and 8
and hell even 7 runs dx12 so
its all a sham
to upgrade to windows 10.9123031203123891048
I swear I so hate this os
MS claims its their last os ever
but we get these FORCED updates..
you MUST update to 20H4 etc or we will not be giving you support and or updates if you dont!
22 GB install later..
restarts
restarts again
and see ya next week to repeat
friggen ugh
No, it's not fixed. If you install this game on Win7, it will crash upon loading the games launcher.exe but if you do as I said. It forces steam to just load the game using the mafia-DE exe instead. However the game is bugged still because if you alt-tab the game, you'll be left with a black screen issue when going back to the game to be in focus again. Leaving you with no option but to force quit the game exe
as this is the reason the game faults
dx11 ver = X then=1
else=0
aka end the task if your dx 11 ver isnt XYZ
I just got done with a 5 hour update on windows. I hate windows 10. I use my old windows 7 and windows 8.1 computers for work and I use the windows 10 computers to play games. For the sake of my job I dont have time to wait around for these unavoidable updates. If it was only once or twice a year it would not be so bad. But since I got this windows 10 computer in December. I have had 6 to 7 major updates taking more than 2 to 3 hours each time. Who has time for that. Im working lol.
no need to lie in order to make windows 7 look better, maybe just stick to facts.
1. I live in the mountains of my country, my internet sucks out here so a 20min update for you might take me hours.
2. When I purchased this computer I have had to do several updates. To be fair, out of the 6 to 7 updates I had to do since December. Four of them were in the months of December and January.
3. It is true you can postpone updates but critical updates depending on what the update is will force your computer to update after a certain period of time.
4. To conclude, if I was living in the city, Im sure my experience might be better. Im not a complete hater of windows 10, i was just annoyed when i commented because i had to wait like 5 hours to get some important stuff done. While my old computers dont cause me as much issue. That being said im sure security wise those computers are less safe. But sometimes I would trade that for the convenience of not having to stop everything im doing so often.
well those aren't major updates though, they may seem like major updates to you due to your download speed, but the only major update that has released recently was the one that you explicitly needed to give permission to. other than that, i have personally had 1-2 updates since December.
even security updates can be postponed long enough for you to install them at night.
well I see your frustration, but to be fair, the updates that are released on windows 10 are rather important, as technology progresses it is easier to compromise a system, in order to fight that you need to patch things up every now and again.
if windows 7 was still supported i'm sure it would have the same update interval, so the only real reason windows 7 is "better" is simply because it lost support and doesn't have any updates.
but i'm sidetracking the discussion, lets just leave it at this before i get called a shill by some people
So just update maybe once every 6 months, you can download the latest updates via the next Feature Update; no need to update once a month or so. Disable Windows Updates until you're actually ready to apply updates. Which you could maybe from time to time go somewhere where there is fast internet speed and download them. You can even download it via a Phone and simply download a single ISO which will have all the updates.
please dont come here and post pro win 10 convos
its off topic
as for win 10 you can never disable updates if you are connected to the net
and as for updates 10 just forced everyone to upgrade to the new ver FORCED update.
as in a popup appears all the time saying there will no longer be support for this VERSION of windows 10.. please download the newest H20!
and yeah this one was about 17gb and it had to upack and repack and added oh abit of nothing.
so
1. win 10 you cant disable updates...IF you are connected to the net
2. win 7 and 8 can and do run all dx11 based WIN 10 only games period.
3. Any game that states its win 10 required, but uses dx11 is either owned or partnered with Microsoft.
So I feel ya Taka!
NOTE
@Bad_Mutha
you cannot disable win 10 updates
only notifications... some days if you hit shut down it will indeed force you to update and shut down
with the last FORCED update.. it would never work via even 4G on mobile as the pack was HUGE. again about 16.6 GB to download and more to process in the pack/unpack
its just sick how MS claims win 10 is their last OS yet anyone who has a decent brain knows this is what about windows 13.5 now?
yeahh
I kiss my win 7 pro as im typing this from win 10 pro
I believe I have only 3 games total that truly require win 10
shrugs hugs and chugs
sad but true
Hi Bad Motha, just to be clear: I would like to ask if the workaround with DXVK is still needed for the game to function? Or can I just do what you described and the game should play fine? I would like to try out the Free Ride Deluxe mod but it needs Scripthook and that doesn't work with DXVK.
Thanks and have a nice day!
So you don't use the DXVK v1.7.1 mentioned in the sticky post to run the game on Win7?
Do I need to install this DX12 support update? I'm not sure if I have it yet or not...
