Is the story "realistic"

I'm playing through Mafia 2 for the first time and can't help but feel ridiculous gunning down dudes with a mg42 and escaping a burning building that crashes like a COD setpiece. Is the first game more grounded, or is it just an action movie with mobster themes?

I would not find any If these "realistic" but i guess first one is bit closer what mafia would actually do. These is no mg42 or burning buildings.

I nearly beat Mafia 2 and I have no idea what do you mean by “burning building crashes like COD” they blow up 1 room, building does not crash. You get access to mg42 twice in the entire game, 1st time in war setting which is very realistic, second time in a car ambush and you never see it again.

Maybe either stop making things up out of thin air, or better play the game for what it is and make it realistic with your gameplay .

So far the most unrealistic thing in this game I came across is access to grenades, thats about it.

If you see it that way then it is.

After that however you see Cops and painter/doctors again that you won't find on COD.

Also, at any point you did not shoot building itself with MG42. You shot Cars and fatty with that. And you don't Cary it with you like some Rambo, you leave it behind because using gun like that without some support is not practical.

What vaude that explosion however is not revealed but probably done by leftover enemies hoping to Bury you.

You Are free to criticize missions If you want but i'm just clarifying details.

Wait, how is a trio of mobsters with an MG42 unrealistic? Crazier things have happened in real life because of different crime organizations. I don't find the whole Buzzsaw thing in Mafia 2 unrealistic at all.

I don't think the mob has "overkill" in their vocabulary. If anything, extra collateral damage just sends a bigger message, and given Henry, Vito and Joe's position, and given the era, them acquiring an MG42 seems like the easiest thing in the world.
