Difficulty in chapter 2

How many tries does it typically take to run from the gangsters and reach the bar in chapter 2?

I'm having an extremely difficult time with this, to point where game is NOT fun. Might put in for refund, which is disappointing as the game looks like it could be fun game.

I've got it set on easy mode and have been unable to outrun the gangsters in chapter 2 after about 40 attempts. Usually get stopped at very first set of steps. A few times made it up the stairs. Twice made it across the street, where the gangsters pummeled me as I failed to jump up on the crates quick enough to elude.

Is this typically how each chapter grinds on in the game? Or am I just doing something wrong with the controls maybe?

Been using A C D S to move, but guy does not seem to respond well to them. Are there easier settings to have that might work better?

You have to hold W continuously and press Shift once to toggle sprint.

This part of the chapter is just a quick tutorial on movement, following waypoints, and climbing obstacles. It's not normal to struggle with that.

Think I was pressing both W and shift keys continuously. I'll go back and try it again. This might explain my running like a sleeping snail. Combining that with my complete confusion in regards to sense of direction, and the gangsters were easily catching up and whacking away with the bat.

On a positive note... began playing Mafia 2 classic game and it is FANTASTIC. Flying thru it now at chapter 5. So no way do I want my money back. Even if Mafia 1 is unplayable for me, I"m totally satisfied with Mafia 2 classic.
