Controller issue on steam deck

For some reason I can navigate the menus fine, but when the first mission starts I can’t drive? I can move the camera etc but nothing is happening when I press the triggers.

I’ve tried testing the controls in the steam deck and also connecting an Xbox controller and the same issue. What’s going on?

Lots of people have been having this same problem, you're not crazy. Any controller that uses Steam Input (like, in this case, Steam Deck or PS5 controllers) dont work in-game in mafia. It started early this month around the same time for everyone.

For an xbox controller, you should be able to disable steam input for the game to get it to work again. idk where it'd be on deck, but on normal steam it's a gear icon on the right of the game page in your library, then click Controllers. If you're still connecting through a steam deck, it may or may not work - I don't have one to test.

One thing you could do is try sending a ticket to 2K support. Me and some others have already done it, maybe more people sending them whatever they ask for will finally make a human at 2K or Hangar 13 see it!

I think this problem is with the steam version. I bought the trilogy 3 to 4 months ago on steam but I returned it due to the same problem but I got the Mafia definitive edition for free on gog via prime gaming and I installed it via heroic launcher on steam deck and had no problems with controllers and all the prompts to show which button to press is showing as well.
