Realistic handling, realistic drifting
This game is a sleeper in terms of car driving on Classic.
Its almost a drifting/handling simulator, incredible car physics engine.

Take a medium powered car in Free Ride, use manual gear box, hold 2nd gear to redline and start swerving from left to right, hold the angle while flooring it and send it around the corner sideways.

The incredible realism of drifting on skinny tyres is SO realistic its nearly Assetto Corsa level. Underpowered engine redlined on thin rubber especially in rain at night gives you a light stock RWD 80s feeling.

People who can’t drive on Classic properly only been touched by the most Arcade and distorted hot-wheels type garbage in their safe space.

The amount of topics and complaints related to “bad car handling” on classic is SO far removed from reality its obvious these people never touched an actual sports car in their life, let alone manual light weight RWD car, its just hillarious.

When in reality unrealized by them this by Accident will probably be the closest to driving realism they’ll ever get before being intimidated by arcade Forza and still not buying it because it has shreds or realistic driving (barely) that will be enough to overwhelm them in the first half hour :D

I read all the complaining and thought WOW! can it really be that bad!?

Then I played it and after 10 races I got the feel of the car & track and nailed it and will go back to racing it again and again for the fun of it!
Yup. The driving in this game is really good for a game that's not a dedicated racing game. The original's driving was great as well.
As an Assetto Corsa player I agree OP. The driving in this game is really good on classic difficulty.
