That's hes choice. I would not recommend it.
And to top it all off, they mangled the VA and Music. The real reason they can't release so many of those old games is the music licenses end up expiring. It's all around terrible. The original is the story of a normal guy caught in bad times, down on his luck, who falls in with the wrong crowd and ends up rising his way to the top - for as long as that lasts. It's the classic Call of Duty engine from that era and so it fits with that entire "early 1900s" vibe as well if you played those games. It's perfect throughout and you definitely should get an original CD copy instead.
This.. just so much wrong.
Mafia 2 and 3, ARE good buys - so get the original versions before they also end up in distribution rights limbo/you can't get the originals any more. (the same thing happened to GTA 3+4 as well, missing radio stations, and re-done voices and...
Mafia 1? Get on GoG. The trailer they have there is the original release promo and says it all. As for the music, find it online or get an old CD and import it back in. No issues with the game trying to auto-update to the "new" files, either. Same with the old Star Wars flight sims. Get original CDs and copy the files back over into the engine. Cumbersome, but worth every penny to get these classic games "right" versus a Steam version that's re-done or crippled.
