How hard is Classic Difficulty?

I recently finished Mafia 2 for the second time, I've never played the original Mafia and I'm going to start this game soon.

I've heard of the infamous race and a turret section later on, but is it manageable overall? I didn't really find 2 all that difficult on Hard.

it's not that hard. Race took me about 5-6 tries and the turret-mission is also manageable. Just finished my second playthrough and I'm sure you can do it.

It's tough but not impossible, though it can be frustrating.
The race mission is ridiculous for me and the turret section is just tough. It can be hard if you are unlucky and most of their shot always hit.

Oddly enough the race and the rail section is harder on Classic DE than the original, everywhere else seems easier.

finished by camping a lot and relying on health gating, and checkpoints, too.

Complete the game in 10 hours on Classic. The race took me 12 or so attempts. It was frustrating but not that difficult once you implemented the ramming feature to cut corners easier. For the turret, it took me only two tries.

There was one point I had to restart the chapter due to being killed instantly at a checkpoint, but more unfortunate circumstances than anything.

Best of luck! Very enjoyable remaster for what it is.

Started my playthrough of the game on Classic Difficulty. I had some stuttering issues but my refresh rate in the Windows settings was set to 60Hz instead of 144Hz, changing it fixed my problems. I'm really enjoying it so far, I'm only on the second chapter. I'm dreading the race, but if worst comes to worst I'll just download a save after the race.

There's a very easy way to effortlessly win the race by using the speedhack setting in cheat engine and setting it to 500. You don't need a table, just the program. Setting the speed so high makes every car crash and disqualify themselves by the 3rd lap. So at least there's an easy way out if you get really frustrated.

I gave the race a go but figured there's no way I'm doing this. So I just downloaded a save from Nexus that's on the Classic Difficulty after the race.

I'm really enjoying the game so far, the story is better than Mafia 2's for sure.

I'm on Chapter 12, the hardest parts by far have been the combat sequences in vehicles. Worst part was the entire chase during A Trip To The Country, and escaping with Sam in a hearse from the church during The Saint And The Sinner.

Other than that it's not too difficult. Medi Kits are usually around when you need to heal.

More than the game, try doing the free ride missions on Classic difficulty. Those don't count for any achievements but if you want a fun challenge those are worth trying.

My entire playing of the game was only done on Classic (beat the story once and kept going back and forth to Free Ride between missions to do the newly unlocked Free Ride mission.

I beat the game.

Overall it had some very annoying sections, mainly the driving parts. The pistols had bad reticles compared to the shotgun and automatic weapons. The firearms were also too inaccurate for my liking.
Mafia II had better combat I felt.

As for the story, it was definitely better than Mafia II. I was surprised at the end to see Vito and Joe kill Tommy, I remember that mission in 2 but I didn't make the connection.

in 'that' scene I didn't even recognize Tommy the first time I played it either because I played the original and it didn't even click until I read about it later. although it had been years since I played the first but he didn't look the same at all.

I found the race unfun and impossible, mostly because I absolutely HATE having to play any scene even twice. (I play on easy for a reason!) So, as discussed, I just downloaded someone's saved game file and moved on.

As for the notorious turret, I found shifting from controller to mouse and keyboard made it 100X easier.

Its really not that difficult, race can be teadious but not impossible when you cut few lines, take sharp turns and body block enemies, shoot outs and other fights can be done with decent skills.

As for the turret scene i personally did not see any difficulty on that, just normal spraying with thompson and the truck went down quite fast.

I really don’t get what is difficult about the race. Thought I lost the first try but position 1 decided to crash in the last corner.

Was now searching if classic mode is the easier mode because it is a walk in the park . Turret was a bit annoying but so many checkpoints that it feels like save scumming. And no I am not bragging here because I never play games on hard
