Game crashes on Startup

Try to start the game. Can't even go a whole two seconds before the game crashes. How do I fix this?

No, that not true , this game can run on win7 and 8 after some little dll fix and you know it.

To OP. Dont run the game from steam. The game launcher is broken and still dont work correctly. Go to the game folder and run "mafiadefinitiveedition.exe".

Apparently from what I figured out, you have to start the game directly from the folder or run it as administrator. If you try to launch it directly from Steam, the game will crash on startup [have not found a workaround to launching it from Steam without the game crashing]

If this fix doesn't work, let me know.

There have never been any crashes in the game for 60 hours of play time, where it also included various modifications from modders and so on. Personally, I didn't have a crash-game at all.
If people who write about this, look for the problem with your computer and its configuration first.

Just because YOU didn't have a crash in your play time doesn't mean others who played this game have. Everybody's PC Configuration is different

However, I have addressed what seems to be the problem. Someone else posted earlier in this thread that trying to launch the game directly from Steam causes the game to crash at startup [and I have heard of other people having this problem too, so it isn't just me]. The only fixes I have found for this problem is if you have to either

Start the game directly from the folder its in.

Or

You have to run the game as Administrator

If anyone else tries those and none of them work, let me know. In my experience, they worked for me because I was able to play the game and get a few chapters in with no significant issues like crashes or anything.

I had the same issue. Start the game, look at the main menu for 2 seconds, crash.
Are you by any chance using an AMD GPU? If so, it could be the graphics drivers.
I updated the drivers to version 20.11.2 and the problem was completely fixed

Hopefully this will help you, you could try and completely reinstall the graphics drivers if that doesn't work (google AMD DDU).

I think I found solution how to launch it trough steam. Go to the game folder then set "Run as administrator" option in compatibility tab in properties of both exe files. Then launch it trough steam.

The full screen does not work for some reason. But windows + no window edges work well.
