Fair Play much harder than the original

Just had to ragequit because of the Fair Play mission.

Even the night mission before the race is considerably harder than the original and I'm not sure how I even pulled it off (it took many tries), but the race itself is truly rage-inducing. Let's say you somehow make your way to the top 2/1 place... make the slightest mistake at the turn... and the car goes into spinning mode and you're all the way back again. Screw RWD.

Original was quite easy for me after learning the track, I don't know why everyone keeps saying it was hard... and I mean the truly OG version, without the shortcut and the difficulty patch. But this.... this is pain.

Any tricks (classic difficulty only) other than using "F - ramming" when turning?

I'm playing it with Classic Mode and Manual Transmission. Finally got through it after getting a tip about gearing on YouTube. You actually need to apply racing line principles, i.e. "slow in, fast out". Slow your car to the right speed, once you turn in to the apex (sharpest point of a corner), TAP your gas through the corner and then mash it back down full throttle only when you straighten out.

If you are in manual mode, don't bother with 3rd gear except on the last banked corner.

With a lot of luck and your advice on tapping the throttle out of corners and sometimes "ramming" when cutting less steep corners and trying literally like 30 times, I somehow managed to beat it.

Still, I remember it being much easier.

I remember the original being impossibly hard. I got this one on the first try. The thing to remember is you have brakes. Don't be afraid to use them.

Original race (2002) was easypeasy. You got car twice as fast as others and all you needed to do was ride nicely witout any crash to win. And it was even easier if you chose eawsy mode.

Race with original difficulty in remake have nothing to do with "original" difficulty! Its nightmare!
You have worse car than others, you start as last one, and whats really bad, opponents are now very agressive.

I hope i can switch difficulty now, because this is just impossible withous some skill for racing sims. So far my best position in race was 3rd, and just for few seconds, because agresive guy behind just pushed me away and ruined my race.

Im affraid! Because everytime i use em in here i crash. My car dont react well for this.
And of course, it doesnt solve problem with bumping idiots behind me.

That race is easy, following racing principles is useful but not necessary. dont be affraid to use brakes, they are your friend :)

I don't understand anyone claiming this is difficult. I have played it on Classic. Didn't know it was hard until I saw a bunch of comments. I had to retry a few times sure. But this isn't hard. You want to know what is hard? Chess Online. That's hard.

Next stop - Trip to the Country, the final chase scene. Best of luck. (protip for when the time comes: lower your mouse sensitivity to at least 4 when dealing with the armored truck)
Fighting with goons on Happy Birthday on the top of the steamboat was an another hiccup for me, which took like 20 times, but it was nowhere as hard as Fair Play or Trip to the Country.

So far this is one hard game (at least on Classic difficulty). Not everything is hard, majority is average-tier difficulty, sometimes even too easy, but it can be downright frustrating at times. And at these times, I find it way more difficult than the original.

it wasent that bad, after understanding how the car work, and how much to slow and where to cut (after the first tight turn you can cut through the grass on the set of right turns with ease) you can get to the point of winning that race every time.

Done in first attempt on Classic difficult. I can say its a little intense but not really hard when you controll the car right. But well i play a lot of racing games so maybe thats why...

Anyway that was fun.

lol i did it from first time on Hard and Classic too ! much more easy than original

I have about 800 hours in Dirt Rally and regularly finish top 50 in the daily events there.
The race is difficult, and those claiming to do it on the first try are almost certainly lying. Sad!

We arent lying, we just didnt "learn to drive" in Dirt Rally in first place. People who actually know how to drive a car fast have no problem with this mission :P
