I would recommend this one but if you looking for a game you can play for a long long time then RDR2.
RDR2 dont have bugs like mafia, because this game has 1 year and issues were patched to this time.
I have both games on steam, mafia didn't even launch. Lot of people has same problem
If you are looking for a game with a lot of replayability and a big open world to explore with a lot of sidequests and stuff to do after finishing the main story go for RDR2. However, if you are looking for a more linear experience go for MAFIA.
They are both good games. You can still explore mafia world in the free ride mode. However there is not as much to do in mafia's world as RDR 2's world.
If you can only choose one go for rdr2 for more game time
Yet Hangar13 had a chance and what i see is only regress...
I will also disagree about the story, both games had great story lines, RDR2 tells you a story about the end of wild west, and a guy who put too much trust in a wrong person so he tries to redeem himself.
Pretty solid if you ask me.
So go for a RDR2, i don't think i played anything better in my 21 years of gaming.
Mafia is a good gangster story, but aside from it's story doesn't have a whole lot to offer, where as you can just ride around in the world of RDR2 and find all kinds of things to do that feel very organic.
Overall i'd have to say RDR2.
You can't compare the two and trying to force a comparison doesn't work. Red Dead: Redemption 2 is a game made by one of the largest developers in the world with a ludicrous budget and as such obviously provides much more content. This game is made by a much smaller developer with a smaller budget as a remake of the original early 2000s Mafia: it has quite a bit of content and is long enough, but it is not Red Dead: Redemption 2 and it is not supposed to be.
Which time period do you like more? If you like the "Mafia" period, you might as well get this. If you are more into the "Wild West", Red Dead: Redemption 2 might be your choice.
