Czech voice acting? Hello?
The game has localized audio in 5 different languages, but no respects paid to the country the game was born in. GG hangar 13, I would rather play the original game with the awesome voice acting.

For comparison to Americans, it's like if they reshot all the friends episodes but didn't record English audio. Once a franchise is iconic to your country, you can't just ignore it!

Wouldn't be a lot more authentic to play in English with the Italian accent anyway?
Even though the game was made there, the English audio was always the default. It makes no sense for them to be speaking in Czech. Regardless of where you're from, it's a better experience to play it with the more accurate English with Italian accent and put subititles on.

If Vavra's later game, Kingdom Come Deliverance, had Czech audio, I would've used it with English subtitles, but they only offered a German dub. Said it wasn't worth the investment. If the same logic applies, 2K Czech and/or Hangar 13 probably considers a Czech dub to be a waste of money.

Authenticity is one thing, but I think reliving the nostalgia has more value than authenticity in this case. And for CZ (and SK) people who are rightfully proud that this game comes from there, that includes:

- Co si to kurva ty parchanti vo sobě doprdele myslej? Že je to tady nějakej zasranej lunapark nebo co? Vlastnoručně těm hovadům rozstřílím prdel na sračky!
- Tome! Ty parchanti vytahujou bouchačky! Vykašli se na bejzbol! Postřílíme ty svině, tady jde vo krk!
- Představ si to, Sáro. Dneska jsme měli v práci hroznou dřinu. Musel jsem zabít deset lidí.
- A to ti jako poradil kterej kretén? Vo tom já nevim ani prd, do prdele.
- Co koukáš jako by ti spadly hračky do kanálu?
- Teď tady pěkně čum a hlavně nic nedělej, ať zase něco neposereš.
- VŠIIIICHNIII CHCIIIPNEMEEEE AAAAAAAA

The least the money-grabbing 2K can do is pay homage to one of their bigger titles origins.

I disagree.. I think authenticity is crucial for immersion in a thematic game such as this that so well depict a historical moment in time.

As for nostalgia.. nobody is getting it as the cast changed even in English... So none of the familiar voices we heard so many times will be here anyway. It's new for everyone, so take the opportunity to get accustomed to this version's original cast. Seriously, playing this game in any language other than English only lessen your experience.

You're right about the changed cast, it's not gonna be the same in any case. Still there are many many memorable quotes in this game which don't really have the same snap in English - for CZ/SK gamers anyway. Generally immersion is important, but I think in a remake the nostalgia value is no less important. Players outrage about missing locations in RE3 remake is a point in case.

Speaking immersion in thematic games depicting historical moment in time, nobody, including me, seems to mind using English dub in Assassin's Creed games (the main lines I mean, not the chatter in the background or, I'll give them that, 1-2 words uttered per cutscene). And I doubt many STALKER (or Metro) gamers chose Russian dub over English with Russian accent. Some undoubtedly did, but I think it's safe to assume vast majority didn't.

Fair enough.
Regarding Nostalgia though.. the soundtrack is, for me, even more relevant. I really hope the music is all there... but I digress.
Good luck with your Czech voice acting wishes. I hope they add them in, but don't set yourself up for disappointment. Cheers.

I agree with that, the soundtrack is where it's really at... and I'm worried about that as well.
To be honest, when I played the game when it came out I've found it annoying but once I got used to it I can't imagine the game without it anymore. Even started to listen to Django Reinhardt because of it.
I'm not holding my breath though, upon seeing the creative liberties Take 2 / Hangar 13 already took (face of the main protagonist, change of the font of the logo) and realizing that not having the rights for music anymore was the sole reason Mafia 1 disappeared from Steam store some years ago (only to return years later to the store albeit the version with no licensed soundtrack)... kinda worried there.

But music is something that can probably be modded in if the game changes it. We will see.

I am Czech but I have to agree with you, having Czech voice acting was definitely nice in the original Mafia and Mafia II, but I don't think it's necessary for the remake. The majority of people who were upset about no dubbing at first are either old timers who never bothered to learn English or kids who don't care enough to learn English yet. It's not going to include the original cast anyway, so why even bother.

Oh boy, I've been learning English past 15 years, all the movies and TV shows I watch are also in English (The Simpsons is probably the only TV show I watch in czech) but Mafia 3 not including Czech voice actors was a deal breaker for me. I know many of the original voice actors no longer live, so it's impossible to replicate the game with the exact same voices, but don't try to tell me that hearing Tommy voiced by Marek Vašut wouldn't bring back the memories.

But as I said in of my previous posts, we are all in the same boat here. Tommy voiced by Michael Sorvino would bring back memories for the majority of Mafia fans, but he is not back either. The cast is all new, so as far as voices are concerned, nobody is getting their nostalgia fix.
The only thing we can hope for is the soundtrack to be intact.

The composer of the original Soundtrack, Vladimír Šimůnek is still alive, so maybe we can expect not only re-recorded old soundtracks in better quality, but also expansion of the soundtrack with possibly new songs.

I'm much more concerned about the licensed tracks. The game is full of licensed songs in which Mafia 1 was even pulled from sales because the license expired.. then it came back without the music.
