Game crashing at load screen
I've had this game for a couple years, but have not played it for a while. Now i try to load the game, and it crashes at the load screen. It stays on for a few seconds, and then just crashes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but nothing helps.

Any suggestions?

Spamming "esc" to skip the start scenes and then entering story fast af is a bypass, but i tried the disable launcher and that hasnt changed anything yet.

Add exception in Firewall to block the network for this game, that was the only thing that worked for me. Disabling the launcher does nothing, it's the Mafia Old Country banner that's causing the crash. And achievements will still work, despite game being offline.

if game crashes when it load main menu and shows 2k logo with message "linked" try to untie your steam acc on portal.2k.com

For me this way solved the problem. Now, when I start game, it shows error about "2k account not linked" cancel this message and can start new game

Unlinking account does not solves the problem..i have already tryed that...
clearing cache and updating drivers and physx may solve the problem... iam playing normally with all data saves etc..

The only fix I've found so far is starting the game after putting steam in offline mode. Im pretty sure it has something to do with the 2k link your account pop up on the home screen because after this pop up, the game crashes for me every time. In offline mode the "link your 2k account" pop up doesn't show up and it lets me continue into the game. After you get into the game you can go back online but for me the achievements still dont work.

Funny enough the first time I booted up the game i didnt have any problems. It's only been after the first time I booted up the game that it started happening.

TLDR: Boot up the game with steam in offline mode then go back online once in the game.

Block the game's .exe from going online completely and achievements should be working, at least for me it was the only way that worked.

The firewall exception worked for me.

So do you mean that I should still run the game offline while also having blocked on the network? Running it online with a firewall exception still makes it crash for me.

Adding exception to the firewall also worked for me.

I think there's no need for offline mode, the only thing I did was block exe in firewall, than game launched while steam was online, displayed connection error in main menu but the crash was gone and it works normally every time now. The achivements also work as some say they don't when game is offline from steam.

Alright I tried this and it seemed to completely work. Thanks.

This worked for me, thanks.

The best solution for me was to add an outbound firewall rule that blocked the game from using the network. There's really no reason a single player game needs internet when you're playing.
Adding the firewall exception to block the app or going offline mode fixed it. Make sure you do both inbound and outbound.
