Mafia 2 was 8Gb, the Definitive Edition is 44GB. Is it update worth the big download?

I haven't played the classic version anyways so I'll just play one of them. The difference in the download size is really making it hard for me to pick one. Would appreciate the help.

Well, i admit i am still curious if the big change is just the graphics but it seems so.

You clearly see differences between the old one and the definitive edition:

- The character skins are way more detailed
- The face skin of the characters looks very natural with freckles, holes, scratches which are not only just a plain graphic anymore (can't say for sure if this is something new)
- Faces are lesser edgy
- The street lamps have a such volumetric and realistic lighting it's a bit odd to look at because it's a little too "good" in comparison with the worlds graphic
- Shadows looking more saturated

All in all lightning, shadows, reflections looks better now, Things meant to be round but were edgy are lesser edgy. All graphics look "cleaner".

Other positive things:

- You still see everywhere that Mafia II is an old game, even with its graphic upgrade you also should have no problem running it with 60+ FPS on the highest settings
- Story not seemed to be changed
- You also can play the DLCs wich got a graphic upgrade aswell
- There is a "Launcher" now which give you the chance to change settings right before the game starts and you can also turn it off in the menu


Negative things if you want to call them so are still:

- Combat System (ducking)
- Movement with Controller
- Driving, you can still only choose between driving like a train or driving like you're always on ice
- I do not know if they were accessible only later in the game, but many bonus clothes are missing


For everything else i can't really compare much because last time i played Mafia II is some years ago and played the definitive edition only for a short time now

Yes can't recall last time I played But really having a blast playing new version
In fact I like it better than M111
