There is still some cloth simulation going on and I haven't said it otherwise, like I did told you, the first time I've completed the original game, it was with an AMD and even with Apex disabled there was cloth simulation on Vito.

Altough and dispite it is not nvidia PhysX it is brutally similar which I can get away with just fine, if they leave it like this.

*smacks lips*what a shame

Someone said that the files were still in the game. So I wonder if they can somehow be enabled.

I can see why they kept the Mafia 2 Classic available for download.

I've attempted, Apex settings are in the Game settings ini files but I've put them on 1,2 and 3 and no change the clothes just attach to the player model and don't move.

Well then that does suck. Not really sure why they would disable it, not sure how it would conflict with anything they added.

The files are still in there indeed and even seem to have updated the APEX implementation. So, the physics effects are still in-game although maybe a bit toned down in some places and seem to be a little glitchy sometimes. It is just enabled by default now with no menu-option.

I've heard its something to do with Nvidia dropping support for it or something along those lines but I could be wrong, they might update it in a future patch but right now it's broken.

I believe it's still enabled but not for cloth physics, I've changed and reverted my files back to default to test and no matter what my clothing sticks to Vito like it's super glued, no movement. Running a RTX 2080

The latest APEX release was in 2018 and got discontinued: https://gameworksdocs.nvidia.com/APEX/1.4/release_notes/ReleaseNotes.html In games where it was used, it often had performance issues, like with the Classic version of this game. This all made it probably made very hard for the developers to update its implementation for this remaster; especially because they had to make sure the game runs well with all settings maxed out as nowadays they would get review-bombed for it... Because even this implementation running at its full potential (all particles, clothes-physics etc.) could have brought GPU's to their knees....

You're probably right, but that doesn't mean PhysX has been totally disabled... You still see some (although glitchy sometimes) APEX particle effects in the benchmark for example.... Compare it with the classic version benchmark with APEX off...

Thanks for that info! Didn't realize APEX was a separate thing from PhysX.

The sad thing is that many people don't realize this and are leaving negative reviews partly because of this... Did they expect the team that worked on this remaster to completely redesign the whole physics system from scratch?! You should also realize that they brought a outside team, D3T, together with 2K's Hangar 13 in to work on this remaster. 2K Czech, the original Mafia II developers, got merged into Hangar 13, so probably none or only some developers who worked on the classic version of M2 are still working there. This makes it even harder to work with this older version of the engine and a old and depreceated Physics engine.... So, redesigning the whole physics system would probably have been almost impossible...

Tbh I think they should of at least left the option in the settings..... it's still in the game files and runs on the same engine so it wouldn't of been that hard to leave that there... back to the original I go it runs fine on current hardware.

Why are we getting so many mixed reports about this? Some people saying Physx Is not in the game, some is saying it's there by default. There is no option in the settings but when you play the game you see the particles are there when playing at max graphical settings. What is it?
