What are the steps required to play the game if you are playing alone (there are no other people playing) ?
PLEASE ENSURE your game has a method for people to 'play alone' while they WAIT FOR OTHERS TO JOIN A MULTIPLAYER MATCH,
as an example, fighting games like Street Fighter V etc have options that allow you to play matches against other online people (as they become available) WHILE YOU TRAIN SOLO,
that is very important because other games do not have that and people that cannot do 'something' while waiting for a match to start will NOT play that game, they will get bored and leave.
There is nothing worse than steam games that don't have 'npc' opponents AND options to 'queue for online pvp' while playing solo modes,
games like that always die off because people don't want to sit around doing nothing while waiting for possible matches, it's a down-ward spiral where people only wait 1 minute for a match, nothing happens, and they then go play something else,
they need something to do (play matches with npc opponents, etc) while waiting to queue for online pvp servers.
With the last update you can find several single player modes available under the "Tutorial" tab. Also, on each server in multiplayer there are NPC on both sides, so you can play against them while there are no other players.
In future a full single player Sandbox game mode might be added.
For those who wish to host their own game and have other players join, our partners provide an opportunity to rent a dedicated server, which you can setup in a way you like, including maps, turn on/off NPC, add password etc.

You can always open that link from inside the game (Servers->Rent Server).
