Hollow Knight: Silksong

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Next news on the 4th of April?
I may be fooling myself...

But I'm pretty sure the reason of this radio silence is that Teamcherry signed a contract of non-disclosure with Nintendo.

I want to believe that Nintendo asked them to be one of the exclusive games available at launch with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. This could have been a real opportunity to maximize both the success of the game and the success of the console.

As per consequence, Teamcherry would have been forced to delay further the release of the games, even if the game development was possibly already done.

We have a couple of months to see if I'm right or just deeply delusional.

But I'm still quite excited as we're approaching the day of revelations :)

Bro wtf it's confirmed not to be a nintendo exclusive what are you on
If that's true, Silksong will simply lose customers like us, that is, if the game ever gets released at all, who are not interested to pay extra for a console.

if that would be true and Team Cherry has been holding silksong hostage because of some deal with Nintendo

Then they have lost all my respect and also abandoned more than half of their playerbase. Not worth giving them money at that point

Maybe not "Nintendo exclusive", but maybe Nintendo paid them money to put the PC release on hold until the Switch 2 comes out. Maybe they made a deal with Nintendo 🤑 to release Silksong simultaneously to the Switch 2, so they had to delay the PC release until the Switch 2 comes out.........which would be super scummy from them.

Its easy to verify:

If the game releases at the same time the Switch 2 does....then they sold us out to Nintendo.

I dont get the hype for Silksong anyway.
I mean Hollow Knight is a pretty good game, but:

- Super Metroid
- Symphony of the Night
- Animal Well
- Shadow Man

are just better.

Maybe if what you're looking for is simply a Metroidvania, but me, and I'm sure many others are here for the lore, the atmosphere, and the music. I don't even like sidescrollers, so your list is of no help.

Shadowman and Symphony of the Night are not better. Shadow Man is an entirely different type of game and its got that clunkyness of all n64 games. While I love Symphony of the Night, its much too easy to break the difficulty and its not as well laid out as metroidvania games that came after it.

There is an update: the game has been removed from the American Nintendo e-shop :lunar2019laughingpig:

Why is Shadow Man in your opinion "an entirely different type of game" ?
It has all the ingredients of a metroidvania, the only difference is its 3D nature.

Name one aspect of a metroidvania, which Shadow Man does not have ?

The only aspect I can think of is that it does not have an interactive map... which makes it even more hardcore. It does have a vague map tho.

The NPC storylines are pretty charming and well written in Hollow Knight, but let's be real here, the main story is cryptic, very pretentious, way too edgy for its own good and basically Dark Souls copypasta. Every single line of lore on the statues, monuments and shrines is just pure cringe. And its written in a form which makes it really tiresome to read.

I know Shadow Man is also very edgy, but at least it's well written.

Even if what you're looking for is simply a Metroidvania HK still clears all of those tbqh. It perfected the genre. Nothing else even comes close.

I disagree.

The puzzles, secrets and multi-use of items is way better in "Animal Well".
Hollow Knight doesn't even have any real puzzles, beside of finding breakable walls.

Item management is more fun in Symphony of the Night.

And level design, music and environmental variety is better in Super Metroid.

Hollow Knight does have the best boss fights and the most amount of content out of all of those games, if you include the 3 DLCS ?

Dont get me wrong, Hollow Knight is for sure a 86/100 type of game.
Its just that especially Super Metroid and Animal Well are just better imho.
