Honestly, Team Cherry deserves to lose all their fanbase for those 5 years of silence. "WaaaAaa ThEy DoN't OwE yOu AnyThInG waaaAA" - yes they do owe us something, because the fanbase is the reason Hollow Knight was successful and earned TC sht ton of money
You are correct in that the community has been far too harsh on TC, and that TC has no obligations to really do anything ... however, that does not negate the valid criticisms of TC, the main one being; Their communications are atrocious. Most people, myself included, are not looking for a release date or an expected time of arrival, hell I'm not even looking to see how far along the game currently is (though that would be nice), just a "hey, we're still alive and kicking, and we're still hard at work with silksong." Just even that small thing would help assuage so much going on, yet we do not even get that.
I agree there are a lot of vocal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ out there who aren't mature enough to have proper conversation, however this still doesn't invalidate *proper* criticism of TC, that being their communication is extremely lacking to any degree.
I can respect that them as devs taking their time to make their game as good they can make it, but how they handled this whole situation so far kind of has me respecting them lesser so in terms of talking about them on the internet.
Although on the topic of Team Cherry's radio silence. I do suppose that someone could be annoyed at it, but I can also imagine it being daunting to post anything. They have only ever made one game, and what if they were to promise something in a post? I doubt they want a repeat of June... Though on another point I have spent too long playing that game so it might just be my own bias making up for what they are lacking. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Either way, I don't care what they do. All I know is it's gonna be hype when they do it.
Yeah, there's going to be some people who will be unsatisfied with anything less than a release date in the next quarter. There's also a lot of people who just want to know what to expect. There's nothing unreasonable about that.
Rather give us a dank trailer.........and a release date ;)
I think you're being very entitled in your wording but you DO have a point as one of the kickstarter goals was a 2nd playable character which WAS achieved so they do KIND OF owe the kickstarter backers that second character, they decided to turn it into a fully fledged game so it's taking longer, a lack of communication IS an issue though we have no idea if it's a year away or 10 years away, I for one am find with waiting as they're an indie team and I'd prefer it to be good but it would be nice to get a once a month or once every 3 months dev update
